Human Resource Professional


The Northeast Power Coordinating Council, Inc. (NPCC) is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Human Resource Professional to join its Administrative Services program area. NPCC maintains a staff of approximately 40 electrical engineering related professionals based in NYC. The selected candidate must have and maintain a high regard for personal accountability and understand the critical importance of NPCC’s commitment to excellence and superior service. This position reports to the Sr. Vice President and COO.



Core: Provide Human Resource services to management and staff consistent with strategic needs. Provide advice and counsel to management and employees on all aspects related to the human resource function. Partner with President and CEO and Sr. Vice President and COO (Executive Team) to identify human resource issues including: staffing and recruitment, restructuring, career development, training, employee relations, performance management, compensation, salary, and wage administration. Benefits administration including medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401(k), Flexible Spending Account, Health Reimbursement Arrangement and Transitchek programs. Conduct onboarding process for new hires including performance of background checks, preparation and mailing of benefit packages, information packets and enrollment in the NPCC Benefit Programs. Perform exit interviews and provide feedback to management. Prepare and maintain personnel files. Maintain the NPCC Organizational Chart. Maintain the NPCC Employee Handbook and personnel policies. Arrange onsite and offsite meetings for the NPCC Board of Directors and Meetings of NPCC’s Members, including arrangements for conference rooms and travel for the Executive Team. Prepare and distribute agenda materials for meetings. Obtain quorum for meetings via email and telephone outreach. Maintain and update Board Handbook. Act as a liaison with other program areas and outside contacts, including high-level management and executive support staff. Draft and design general correspondences, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans, etc. Proofread copy for spelling, grammar and layout, making appropriate changes. Coordinate division of workload with the meeting coordinator. Responsible for ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Executive Team.



Core: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with +5 years of relevant work experience. Relevant work experience includes experience in a Human Resource related capacity and/or Supervisory experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. The ability to become proficient in Google Docs or other software as necessary. Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discrete and professional manner. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, and presentation skills are required. Must have the ability to interact and partner with various levels of Management employees. Must have experience handling multiple assignments and reprioritizing as necessary while working independently when necessary.

Additional: A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Industrial and/or Labor relations is preferred. SHRM/HRCI certification (PHR, SPHR, etc.) is preferred.



Core: Must have the ability and willingness to travel within Northeastern North America as needed. A valid passport is required for Canadian travel. Must be able to participate and support the Annual Meeting of the Members to be held at varying locations within Northeastern North America.
