HRIS Specialist

Job Purpose
Towson University is accepting applications for an HRIS Specialist in the Office of Human Resources (OHR). Under the direction of HRIS & Operations Manager, the HRIS Specialist supports HR technology applications, maintains data integrity, compiles and manipulates data to create reports, provides general support to variety of HR systems and processes, assists in the research, escalation and resolution of HRIS-related operational issues. This position serves as a technical point-of-contact for HR functional areas and assists HR staff with ensuring data integrity, testing of system changes, report writing and analyzing data flows for process improvement.

Description
The HRIS Specialist will establish, maintain and update data and configuration tables to validate all information in the HRIS system, such as position, commitment accounting, departments, benefits, deductions, etc. Document functional requirements, map process flows, document test plans, conduct system testing, prepare user manuals and conduct user testing. Serves as reporting expert and functional expert for HR, develops queries, produces routine and ad hoc reports, and provides HR data as requested to support HR functions and campus operations. Collaborates with employment area and central IT to enable new functionality, enhance existing functionality and ensure full integration with PeopleSoft. Troubleshoots reported functional system issues. Serves as a liaison between HR and Central IT. Audits HRIS data for accuracy and follows proper procedures to resolve discrepancies.

The HRIS Analyst provides support to all HCM customizations, upgrades, consolidation activities, on-going bundles maintenance packs relevant to upgrades, and best assist with developing best business practices for new delivered functionality. Provides support to HR Operations, troubleshoots and resolves issues related to HRIS data, supports transactions and documentation, work closely with Payroll and Budget offices to ensure proper forms and processes are followed.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three years' experience working with HR data in a functional support or administrative capacity or related business analyst experience. Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding and evolving environment, as well as functional knowledge of HRIS systems. Strong understanding of human resources, payroll and benefit data. Strong MS Office skills; high proficiency in developing reports using Excel. Ability to create business process guides and document process changes. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision. Knowledge of Human Resources practices in a university environment preferred. Experience working with PeopleSoft/PS Queries, and/or Oracle Business Intelligence, hands on experience with Taleo or similar Applicant Tracking Systems; and running testing scenarios also preferred.
