As a Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP), you will be a strategic member of the Transformers Business Unit leadership team. You will provide HR support to over 1500 employees across 5 locations in the US, Canada and Mexico creating a culture of employee empowerment and progressive change. ABB is a major transformer manufacturer throughout the world operating in more than 100 countries and employs around 132,000 people around the world.

Tasks:

ABB is seeking a HR Business Partner to Partner with business leaders in the Transformer Business Unit in North America (NAM) to develop drive talent outcomes and implement business people strategies; Support business goals and initiatives by ensuring relevant people capabilities and organizational effectiveness in close collaboration with the HR network; Counsel and coach business leaders on organization issues and advise on solutions; Represent business needs and provide continuous improvement feedback in interface with HR Centers of Excellence (CoE) and Global Business Services (GBS). Apply HR policies defined by Group CoEs, including on Labor Relations within each country through partnership with Country HR.

With over 1,500+ employees in our Transformer NAM business and 5 key plants/locations, it represents a strategic piece of our market strategy. The HRBP role is critical to ensure we continue to develop our talent in line with business priorities, focusing on the future and continual learning. 

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Strategy leadership - Set and implement people strategy in the Transformer NAM organization in line with ABB global division, global BU Transformers and global HR function strategy, including culture, competence, and organization.
•Capability Planning or Workforce Planning - Ensure people and organizational capabilities required in the mid-long term are understood and actioned ensuring that the business and organizational positions in the short term are adequately staffed to meet or exceed the annual business targets.
•Organization Design - Design and implement organization structure and principles in line with group and global rules and standards; Develop high performing teams, including organization restructuring, optimal utilization, redeployment and right-sizing of people resources.
•Performance Management -Build performance culture in the organization; Implement group and global business performance standards, KPIs, and targets to enhance business performance; Identify performance issues and take actions to address them in close collaboration with Location HRBP and CoE; Recognize and reward high performance in individuals and teams.
•Competence Development - Decide on competence actions to support business strategy; Implement learning and development activities to build and improve competence in collaboration with CoE and SSC.
•Talent Management - In close collaboration with Talent Partners in the CoE, set and implement strategies and actions to ensure a healthy and sustainable talent structure in the organization, including recruitment, identification and succession planning on business critical positions, diversity and inclusion; Assess risks and coordinate actions to mitigate risks.
•Remuneration Competitiveness and Personnel Cost - Decide competitiveness position and compensation elements based on business need and in line with group and global strategy and policy; Monitor personnel cost development in the business and take corrective actions when needed
•Change Management - Decide on change management need to support business strategy and plan; Implement necessary measures and actions to facilitate change, including communication, reorganization, performance management, motivation, recognition.
•M&A and Reorganization - Under the leadership of global division and/or BU, implement strategy, policy and plans in line with group rules and standards to ensure business benefit and continuity, including due diligence, integrating, communication, change management, retention and motivation, leadership appointment
•Safety & Integrity - Implement HSE and business compliance standards and regulations in the area of responsibility. Personally live the ABB values and Group standards.
•Standards and governance - Implement and ensure compliance with global and local standards, rules, tools, policies and Processes related to operations/project execution and share functional best practices and lessons learned across the organization.
•People leadership and development - Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed. Build an effective, capable and high performing team. Develop talent.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications 
Bachelor degree and 12 years’ experience in Human Resources or combination of Human Resources and manufacturing/operational experience OR;
Master’s degree and 10 years’ experience in Human Resources or combination of Human Resource and manufacturing/operational experience 

Preferred Qualifications 
Proven experience and success in talent management and programmatic development of leaders at all levels in the organization
Demonstrated success with organizational change activities
Leadership of virtual HR team
Strong knowledge of US labor law
Experience working across multiple site locations 
Experience as HRBP working closely within a global business, actively working across countries is strongly preferred
Proven ability to lead, manage, coach and develop HR teams
