Starting Salary Range: $51,100-$75,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

Involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, and / or evaluating Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs and procedures covering several of the following: recruitment, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, payroll, benefits, welfare programs, training and development, visa procurement, inter-location transfers, and employee services

An experienced professional with a broad understanding of all areas related to human resources. Advise, counsel and coach clients on organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues on a project-by-project basis. Provide support to departments in administering policies and programs in the areas of employee and labor relations, training, and other areas of HR. Work on projects that are diverse and complex in scope. Will receive little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects.

Under the direction of the Employee Relations Assistant Manager or designee, the Human Resources Generalist-Employee Relations independently provides high level professional analysis, consultation, coaching and training to campus clients on organizational development, strategic planning, policy and regulatory compliance, interpretation and application of labor contracts, and resolution of workplace problems. Works collaboratively and establishes highly effective working relationships with SHR Managers and staff, clients, campus constituents, and union representatives. Provide analytical, administrative, and campus advocacy and representation on employee and/or labor relations matters with a focus on employee relations

Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check

Must have the ability to work occasional nights and weekends

Work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation

Current work-site is UCSC Scotts Valley Center at 100 Enterprise Way, Scotts Valley, CA

Qualifications include:
    Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience and training

    Demonstrated experience with applying employee relations specific concepts and knowledge of employee relations practices and programs

    Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills or ability to conduct analysis and develop innovative, effective solutions and/or recommendations

    Experience in researching and summarizing information from a wide variety of policies, regulations, and other sources to clearly present alternatives and risks

    Experience in project management
