Responsible for all human resources activities including employee relations, orientation, HRIS (HR Information System), department development and employment related matters.  Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on Company policies, procedures and documentation.  Initial point of contact for the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems, and inquiries. Responsible for properly accounting for paid leave and other absences as well as preparing changes to employee payroll information and deductions.

 Responsible for all benefit activities including the day to day operations of the group benefit programs (group health, dental, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plans, 401(K) plan, COBRA and all additional voluntary benefit plans). Provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages new hire process including advertising, interviewing, background checks and references, among others.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Maintains HR files, records, and logs pertaining to HR, including keeping current of various laws or filing requirements.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. 
  • Manages the new employee orientation process including setting agenda, reviewing and checking new hire paperwork, and communicating benefits to new employees.
  • Maintains Employee/Benefit files. Ensures that all required documents are in every employee file based on checklist. Prepares Benefit Reports.
  • Implements / Maintains HRIS by inputting new hires, salary changes, etc., into system and creates reports for management and updates information as necessary.
  • Responds to employment verification and unemployment inquiries.
  • Completes the EEOC report annually.
  • Coordinates annual employee performance evaluation process.
  • Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third party administrators.  Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.  Works effectively to ensure efficient plan function.  Investigates discrepancies and provides information in non-routine situations.
  • Assists employees with FMLA requests (when applicable), and Short term disability applications working with the vendor to ensure timely payment of disability income.
  • Manages the annual Open Enrollment program for the company. Collects census information and prepares reports.
  • Responsible for reviewing all monthly benefit invoices for accuracy (including additions, deletions, changes) and ensuring that accounts payable has information for processing
  • Creates and updates compensation strategy through market analysis and pay surveys.

  • Required computer skills: Working knowledge of database software, HRIS, internet software, payroll systems, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.


Minimum Qualifications (Education, experience, certifications):

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or other related education, and a minimum of five years relevant experience or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • PHR and/or CEBS certification preferred
  • Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
