We seek a highly-motivated Manager of Human Resources who can help us achieve that mission.

 
This exempt position assists the Director of Human Resources in all areas of the human resources disciplines. The position requires an individual with excellent oral and written communication skills, in-depth knowledge of human resources operations, compliance, and experience with various HRIS and recruiting software.

Essential Duties

  • Escalation point for employees in resolving conflicts/complaints. Investigates complaints; prepares findings, and resolutions for review by the Director of Human Resources and the appropriate members of management.
  • Backup for overall supervision and reallocation of the legal staff to ensure there is appropriate coverage in the Dallas office.
  • Develops, updates, recommends and implements the policies and procedures of the firm handbook(s) (multi-state) with the members of the handbook team.
  • Conducts performance management and prepares internal employee communications regarding company policies.
  • Provides overall project management for HRMS implementation and supports upgrades, patches, testing and other technical projects as assigned.
  • Manages the HR reporting and recruiting processes. Processes paperwork for functional area according to established procedures.
  • Manages the HRIS to ensure the integrity of the data.
  • Provides direction and problem solving support to managers on employee relation issues and development.
  • Consults with managers to develop effective documentation for performance improvement/disciplinary documents.
  • Reviews management disciplinary actions to ensure compliance with company policies, state and federal fair employment laws. Makes alternative recommendations as appropriate.
  • Works collaboratively with others throughout the firm and serves as a resource to Office Administrators (domestic and international).
  • Prepares responses to third party complaints. Coordinates with internal legal staff and the Director of Human Resources.
  • Develops a strong partnership with the managers and attorneys to understand the goals and objectives of the department. Makes recommendations and identifies solutions regarding human resources policies and practices to support departmental goals.
  • Assists with staff new hire orientation.
  • Develops process improvements within the internal structure of the human resources department to increase efficiencies.
  • Manages and develops all staff to identify strengths and weaknesses so that all bring full value to the Firm and grow professionally within the organization.
  • Develops and conducts training to meet the needs of staff members and managers as it relates to compliance with fair employment policies and regulations.
  • Partners with the hiring manager/supervisor to identify and assess specific hiring criteria, sources, interviews and makes recommendations to hiring manager concerning qualified candidates for their review for open positions assigned.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, updating, and auditing the recruiting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the recruiting process for all exempt and nonexempt staff members, students and temporary employees.
  • Makes recommendations to the hiring manager on qualified staff candidates to be considered.
  • Develops and maintains sourcing relationships and activities to ensure the Firm has a strong staff candidate flow from reputable sources to ensure firm standards are upheld.
  • Provides reports that indicate trends of staff candidate availability as appropriate based on supply and demand.
  • Coordinates with the Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources Coordinator to obtain background checks, and reviews and approves results.
  • Rewrites and revises job descriptions as necessary.
  • Assists HR Specialist and HR Analyst with the development and maintains HR Analytics.
  • Approves invoices for payment.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.


Requirements

Knowledge/Experience

The Human Resources Manager should possess 6 or more years of progressive human resources experience.

Skills

• Strong writing, proofreading and oral communication skills.
• Flexible and organized with the ability to deal with many different personalities, competing priorities and the pressure of meeting deadlines.
• Strong work ethic.
• Clear understanding of client service and working effectively as a member of a team and independently. • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, assertive leader who is influential with political acumen.
• Strong computer proficiency a must, with particular knowledge of HR Systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel internal and external to the Firm.

Education

The Human Resources Manager should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with related studies in Human Resources. A PHR Certificate is highly desirable, but not required.
