Position Overview:                      Performs a variety of payroll-related clerical duties.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Review and import non-exempt employee weekly timesheets into Colleague via Kronos or via spreadsheets completed and approved by departments. As well as, maintain an attendance controller for each administrative employee.
  • Collect, enter and verify timekeeping information for student employees from the employment to the termination phase.
  • Responsible for updating employee changes (ie: address changes, banking, name changes and tax information).
  • Maintain payroll records according to record retention policy by shredding and scanning of payroll files for input into Perceptive software.
  • Responsible for annual notification of W-4 renewals for those claiming “exempt”.
  • Responsible for monitoring the payroll e-mail account and responding to all inquiries.
  • Print, sort and distribute payroll checks for on-cycle and off-cycle check runs. Also, responsible for the collection and updating of garnishment checks.
  • Collaborate with Benefits on the monitoring employee paid and unpaid leaves.
  • Prepare and or assist with the processing of employee/computer loans.
  • Ensure an adequate stock of all payroll supplies (i.e. checks, advices, W-2, envelopes, etc.).
  • Support the payroll process to acquire skills and knowledge of SVA payroll to ensure continuous operations in the absence of payroll supervisor.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by management.
  • Assist with the Kronos integration project, training, import/updating balances, etc.
  • Research and resolve questions from managers, employees and third-party vendors received in writing or verbally related to the processing of payroll, PTO, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions and other changes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum Associates' required, Bachelors’ degree preferred.
  • Two to four years accounting payroll or clerical experience required.
  • Kronos Time and Labor experience strongly preferred. Prior experience using Ellucian’s Colleague.
  • In-house payroll experience a preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate numerical ability.
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor, and the ability to handle with sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
