Job Description:

ASU Police Department is seeking a Police Personnel Recruiter to achieve staffing objectives that align with the Department’s Mission Statement and Vision to market ASU Police as an employer of choice.


Under direct supervision, performs a wide variety of recruiting and retention for the Police Department.


Occasional travel may be required.


Essential Duties:

•Communicate with managers and employees regularly to establish rapport and gauge morale to maximize retention.

•Attend career fairs to recruit and market ASU Police; the recruiter will have access to a pool of administrative vehicles for local travel.

•Develop contacts within the industry.

•Network through industry contacts and association memberships to market ASU Police.

•Develop and maintain employee recognition programs.

•Prepare and submit statistical reports, such as:

◦length of time to fill


◦recruitment activities


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business or closely related field with at least 2 years previous human resource experience including general recruitment responsibilities, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications:

•Experience in Police Recruiting environment.

•Experience in Military Recruiting environment.

•Experience in Fire Department Recruiting environment.

•Experience in Recruiting environment.

•Demonstrated knowledge of standard practices in recruiting for law enforcement agencies.

•Experience in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee information.

•Experience in working effectively in a team environment subject to changing priorities and frequent interruptions.

•Experience in communicating effectively, applying critical thinking and using problem solving skills.


Working Environment:

•Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting.

•Use of computer.

•Communicate verbally and in writing to perform essential duties.

•Subject to extended periods of standing or sitting.

•Bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.

•Occasional travel may be required to include evenings and/or weekends.
