Job Description:

FUNCTION & SCOPE:

Reporting to the Benefits Programs Manager, performs various tasks in retirement administration, such as ensuring employees retirement information is accurate, assisting in the development of communication strategies and plans for the retirement plans, and working within Research Foundation policy guidelines and in compliance with legal requirements. This position provides outstanding sponsored program administration services and stewardship to the SUNY community (faculty, students, and other staff) and sponsors respectively

DUTIES:

Assist on audits to ensure retirement contributions and records are accurate
Determine vesting status and verify service requirements have been met in accordance with RF Policy
Participates in the evaluation, design and implementation of new retirement plan features
Analyze retirement reports and files for accuracy of records, trouble shoot issues and recommends solutions to the Benefits Programs Manager to improve processes
Responsible for processing prior service credit requests towards vesting requirements
Responsible for identifying continuous improvements and streamlining administrative processes and making recommendations to the Benefits Programs Manager
Pays and reconciles retirement bills (including wire)
Assists in the development of retirement plan communication, education and advice to our employees regarding our services we provide through our retirement carrier (TIAA) and informing employees of any changes, recommendations or new tools that will better educate and promote additional enrollments in our retirement plans and options
Provides customer service to campus contacts and retirees
Research and respond to employee retirement plan questions
Works as a Benefits Programs member on teams and performs various other duties as assigned
Active contribution to the development of procedures to create efficiencies in the Retirement unit and making recommendations to the Benefits Programs Manager

Requirements:

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Candidate must have a strong ability to organize and maintain accurate records and have the ability to work on multiple tasks at one time. Demonstrate strong oral and written communication, mathematical skills and proficiency with various computer applications such as Oracle, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Must be able to work independently with complex, detailed records and reports. Must react positively to an ongoing, changing environment

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Four years of progressive experience in a Retirement benefits or accounting position. Bachelors Degree preferred
