The Staff Recruiter is responsible for the full-cycle of recruitment of the administrative professional staff and paralegals within the Firm, including sourcing methods, screening, recommending candidates and assisting in the final selection process, as well as related hiring and onboarding activities.  The Staff Recruiter serves as the face of Blank Rome to prospective employees, and promotes the Firm’s reputation as an employer of choice and excellent place to work.


Responsibilities:

  • Develops recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels and identify and attract the best possible candidates, including identifying sources for strategic recruitment, staying abreast of changing recruitment avenues, monitoring the success rate of various recruitment strategies, and researching and proposing creative additional sources for potential use.
  • Drafts, maintains and updates position descriptions, working collaboratively with others.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with college, university and community college placement offices as a source to generate qualified applicants.
  • Screens candidates for interviews, and during such screening obtains work history, education history, assessment of job skills, needed training, and salary requirements.
  • Provides information regarding the open position, required qualifications, departmental operations, organizational structure and Firm to potential applicants.
  • Based on initial screening, makes recommendations regarding further consideration of select qualified candidates.
  • Schedules initial round of candidate interviews and follow-up interviews and discussions, as appropriate.
  • Conducts candidate reference checks, and submits background checks, carefully reviewing results and consulting with others as appropriate.
  • Participates in final selection process, and extends offer of employment, including oral offer and preparation of written offer, as well as necessary pre-arrival communications and follow up.
  • Tracks recruitment efforts and maintains on going records of recruitment activities for each open position, in order to keep HR management and others apprised of recruitment activity and progress of search.
  • In select recruitment situations approved by the Firm, directs the efforts of employment agencies and search firms, including negotiating and controlling employment-related fees.
  • As appropriate, schedules and attends job/career fairs with appropriate staff to generate qualified candidates.
  • Arranges travel and lodging for candidates as needed.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and tracks hiring and retention statistics, and periodically presents recruitment demographical and statistical information to HR management and others.
  • Strategizes and collaborates with others regarding successful means of marketing and promoting the Firm to ensure recruitment success.
  • Assists with On-boarding and Orientation processes as needed.
  • Works with HR departmental team members on other assignments and projects as requested.


Requirements

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Self-motivated and achievement oriented, with strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Experience using application tracking software and/or related recruitment oriented technologies and HR databases.
  • High proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite, including strong skills in Excel and data presentation.
  • Demonstrated experience and history of exercising initiative in planning, implementing, and monitoring projects with accountability for achieving desired outcomes.
  • Excellent judgment and history of successfully assessing candidates.
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Commitment to working in a collaborative work environment and serving as a leader in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of relevant employment laws.
  • Flexibility to work beyond the standard 40-hour workweek as needed, to ensure the recruitment processes proceed smoothly, candidates are moved forward timely and appropriately, and the Firm’s recruiting needs are fully met.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; HR specialization or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years of recruiting experience; law firm or professional services experience a plus but not required.
