Position Overview

Develops and manages HR strategies to meet short and long-term business needs. Responsible for the Credit Union's Human Resources functions primarily in Benefits, Wellness and Payroll. Provides direction and counsel to Executive and Senior Management regarding corporate Human Resources policies and procedures and State and Federal regulatory compliance requirements. Responsible for the overall administration of all company benefit programs. Identifies and recommends payroll process improvements and demonstrates strong project management skills. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Provides direction and counsel to Executive and Senior Management regarding corporate Human Resources policies and procedures and State and Federal regulatory compliance requirements. Oversees benefits, total wellbeing program and payroll. Responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of a competitive pay and benefit programs.

  • Oversees design and implementation of policies and procedures and encourages high productivity, morale and loyalty. Provides effective leadership for the Human Resources staff members.

  • Oversees the administration of benefit plans for the CU including but not limited to health, dental, vision, life, flexible spending account, 401(k), long & short term disability, FMLA and Workers Compensation. Manages annual re-evaluation of benefit programs for cost effectiveness. Works with Payroll Supervisor to ensure timely and accurate multi-state pay is made on regular or exception bases.

  • Builds relationships with senior leaders to establish credibility as a trusted advisor to influence and support key strategic and operational decisions. Makes recommendations for human resource strategies and tactics in support of the corporate plan to Sr. Management.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Additional Job Responsibilities

 

 

 

  • Ensures legal compliance with federal or state laws and regulations covering the areas of OSHA, EEOC, PPACA, safety, wage and hour, worker’s compensation, and other applicable laws. Reviews audits and reports to ensure that credit union compensation and benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with policies and government regulations.
  • Reviews benefit platform on a regular basis, recommending information and content to be posted, including Open Enrollment material.

Develops relevant Human Resources strategies and tactics in support of the corporate plan, and ensures successful attainment of related corporate goals.

 





Requirements

Education and Training

Requires Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent experience. SPHR, SHRM-SCP certifications preferred.


Knowledge and Experience

Requires ten years of progressive HR experience, including two in a leadership role, preferably in a financial institution. Experience in benefits administration and payroll is required.

 

Experience leading projects and helping to foster/create a positive working environment.

 

Experience designing, building and implementing HR functional programs, policies, tools and procedures.

 

Experience of successfully managing multiple priorities & projects through successful delivery and implementation under time, budget and political pressure.

 

Requires comprehensive knowledge of EEO/AA regulations, recruitment and other regulated issues including reporting requirements.


Skill Competencies

Strong ability to partner and lead specialty functions of Human Resources desired with a mix of operational, strategic and systems thinking experience.


Physical Requirements

SEDENTARY WORK: Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking & standing are required only occasionally. Close visual acuity to perform activities like analyzing data, typing, writing, viewing a computer, reading, inspecting small parts or assembling.


Working Conditions

  • Generally works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.

  • May provide assistance and tasks at other locations or branches on an as needed basis.

  • May drive vehicle if needed.
