The Columbia University Libraries seeks candidates for an Assistant Director of Human Resources position to join its HR team.   Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Assistant Director provides strategic and tactical support for the Human Resources office, and will work closely with the Director of HR to implement, lead, and streamline operational and transactional HR processes in areas of talent acquisition management, data collection and analysis, FMLA and other types of leaves of absence, job classifications and evaluation, performance evaluations, and employee and labor relations.  The Assistant Director will manage the work of the HR Generalists, leading day-to-day transactions to support the HR needs and operations of the Columbia University Libraries.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a minimum of 4-6 years' of related experience required
  • Strong HR competencies and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and well organized
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and strong teamwork skills
  • Prior experience managing a team is required
  • Strong knowledge of human resource policies, programs, and procedures, along with a comprehensive understanding of applicable federal, state and local employment laws;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suites, HRIS platforms and database

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR Certification, i.e., SHRM
