Job Title: Assistant Human Resource Manager, Northwest
Reports to: Human Resource Manager

Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Human Resource Manager in the coordination of all Human Resource activities for Ritchie Trucking, JBC Product Management and Bruce Logistics. The position will be based out of the Portland, OR. terminal.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Will primarily be in charge of hiring/placement of employees for all locations, and all phases of their employment from recruiting to completion of pre-employment paperwork, on boarding, up to final termination notification.
  • Work with HR Manager and Benefits Administrator to communicate the company’s benefit program in regards to plan options, policy features, enrollment and other requirements to employees.
  • Assist HR Manager in the Open Enrollment process to ensure that all required documents are submitted in a timely fashion according to the Benefit Administrator’s guidelines.
  • Assist HR Manager in maintaining electronic employee records system by ensuring up to date information is input into system properly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist HR Manager in maintaining and updating all personnel records to ensure state and federal compliance guidelines are met.
  • Develop relationships by engaging with employees throughout the company as a trusted and concerned advocate while always maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Manage updated postings and employee communications on the Human Resource bulletin boards.
  • Assist HR Manager and Terminal Managers (in coordination with the Safety and Compliance Manager) in the reporting and record keeping of Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Assist HR Manager and Terminal Managers with coordinating and organizing employee events such as potlucks, parties, special events.
  • Assist Terminal Managers in ensuring that timely performance reviews are conducted for employees, and that records are maintained in the electronic employee file system.
  • Actively participate in outside organizations (SHRM, Employer Advisory groups, etc.) and continuous learning opportunities for self development and bringing fresh ideas into the company.

Requirements

Summary of Experience and Education

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Human Resource role or related field.
  • Bachelors Degree in the areas of Business, Human Resources or related field of study

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • SHRM certification preferred

Travel

  • A minimum of 25% travel is required. Travel will be required to visit other terminals in the Pacific Northwest region (Everett, Portland, Albany and Medford) as needed.
