Assistant Professor of Economics and Business Administration

(Human Resources)

 

The Department of Business Administration at Bridgewater College invites applications from outstanding teacher-scholars with expertise in human resources for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics and Business Administration position starting June 2020.

 

The successful candidate will join a growing and dynamic economics and business administration program at a liberal arts college that values quality teaching, advising and mentoring students, and an active scholarly agenda. The Department of Economics and Business Administration seeks a dynamic and collaborative professional. This 12-month position includes teaching both undergraduate business administration courses and graduate courses in the new Master of Science in Human Resources program. Graduate courses may include Managing Human Resources, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, Managing the Global Workforce, Organizational Consultation, and other undergraduate courses in the field of management. Additional responsibilities will include recruiting, advising, and mentoring students; participating in departmental and committee tasks; and maintaining personal scholarship.

 

Qualifications: A Ph.D., or D.B.A. in business or related field with at least 18 graduate credits in human resources is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate successful teaching experience, practical business experience, the ability to work in a team environment, and the ability to relate their professional experience and knowledge to the needs and interests of students in a small college environment.

General Information: Bridgewater College was founded in 1880 as the first coeducational college in Virginia and has an educational philosophy of developing the whole person and equipping students to become leaders with a strong sense of personal accountability and civic responsibility. The College offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in more than 60 majors and minors, along with multiple areas of emphasis and concentrations, pre-professional programs such as medicine and law, dual degree programs and teacher certification and several graduate programs. The College is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with 23 intercollegiate athletic teams and an equestrian team that competes in the IHSA.

 

The beautiful and vibrant 300-acre residential campus includes an equestrian center and is located in the town of Bridgewater in the midst of the Shenandoah Valley.
