Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Workplace Equality Program contributes to major projects of the team’s portfolio such as the Corporate Equality Index, Buying for Equality Guide and research on the experience of LGBTQ people at work.  This portfolio includes substantial direct consultation with major employers on LGBTQ-inclusive policies, benefits and practices; development of major publications and accompanying resources; and development of strategies for expanding and refining these flagship programs.  This position is responsible for the development and management of timely, accurate and robust resources to support the work of the program including employer and employee educational resources, best practice guidance, peer-to-peer network, story-telling resources, webinar library, and social and video campaigns.  Additionally, the Associate Director, Workplace Equality Program will work with the Marketing and online teams to produce online and app versions of the Corporate Equality Index, Buying for Equality Guide and other digital resources.  The Associate Director, Workplace Equality Program reports to the Director of the Workplace Equality Program. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Workplace Equality Program content and resources, the Corporate Equality Index, Buying for Equality Guide and research on the experiences of LGBTQ people at work.
  • Assist in survey review and preparation of annual Corporate Equality Index.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Online teams on research, development and redesign of the Buying for Equality App and affiliated online database and Employer Database
  • Collaborate with Video team to script and produce evergreen/thematic videos on the business case for LGBTQ workplace inclusion to show business audiences, and social-specific videos for a wider audience of HRC members and supporters
  • Manage and create CEI resources, including developing new content and designs to educate, clarify, and reach new audiences on the CEI survey and criteria (including white papers, slide decks, information design, blog posts, etc.)
  • Conduct interviews and produce original content to highlight stories of best-performing CEI participants and CEI success stories
  • Contribute content to Equality Magazine and other publications (digital, social) targeted to HRC members and supporters.
  • Monitor and capture trends in workplace inclusion to identify areas of opportunity to educate Workplace team and stakeholders
  • Support Workplace Equality Program senior team and HRC leadership in drafting remarks, press release quotes, and ghostwriting op-eds
  • Mid to high level corporate consultation (SME) with CEI partners
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

osition Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) with demonstrated, preferably published, writing experience.
  • At least 5-6 years’ experience in full-time relevant work, substantial experience with corporate entities, and a demonstrated record of successful organizational consultation. 
  • Background or experience in matters of organizational diversity and inclusion is preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Apps (Gmail, Google Docs and Drive) and internet proficiency including research and data validation.
  • Excellent verbal, spoken and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well on a team.
  • Flexibility with work schedule; must be willing to travel 10-20% of work time, sometimes in evenings and often on weekends.
  • Knowledge of and exhibited interest in LGBTQ rights.
