Information on the Department: 

The Lesley Human Resource department is a small but dynamic unit of six employees, including the Associate Vice President, which supports approximately 550 Core faculty and staff, and 600 adjunct faculty. Lesley's Core and Adjunct faculty are represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). The Human Resources department is responsible for the smooth implementation and administration of all of the traditional facets of human resources-e.g., benefits and salary administration, employment and onboarding, HRIS maintenance and reporting, performance management, employee relations and professional development and training. In addition, the Human Resources staff is charged with being key leaders in the cultural transformation which the University seeks.


Job Description:

The Associate Vice President of Human Resources provides strategic leadership and direction for all facets of human resources including: 

  • Plans, develops, and implements a fully integrated human resources strategy for the University which links culture, skills and the way we work to our strategy and improves how we work together;
  • Ensures Lesley can attract, hire and retain top quality employees to meet its current and prospective needs including fostering a diverse workplace and campus climate of inclusion to enable all employees to contribute to their full potential;
  • Develops and supports a culture transformation that supports real collaboration and harnesses the power of difference; relies on critical thinking and joint problem-solving; and encourages clear and transparent communications;
  • Develops and implements Lesley's HR business plan, establishes accountability and identifies solutions to resolve problems; ensures the Human Resource policies and practices support and enhance the University's Strategic Plan and its Diversity and Inclusion Plan.
  • Ensures that a robust professional development strategy is created to support Lesley's emerging culture and develop the skills and talents of our people;
  • Administers a wide variety of human resources programs in support of the University's teaching, research, and service objectives; classification and compensation, staff recruitment and selection, benefits administration, employee training and professional development, employee and labor relations and negotiations and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); and
  • Ensures that Lesley University complies with all local, state, and federal employment laws, policies and regulations, including those associated with Affirmative Action guidelines, EEO, Title IX, ADA, ACA, FLSA and other relevant laws, rules and regulations.
  • Evaluates the Human Resources department structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities for individuals where possible.

 
Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Human Resources or related field, business or management.
  • An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, or public administration is preferred.
  • A demonstrated record of successful performance in human resources management, including progressively advanced professional experience in Human Resources, preferably in higher education.
  • Five or more years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience with Labor relations and contract negotiations is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated decisiveness, possessing a strategic vision, politically savvy and collaborative.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented and self-directed with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and a strong operational focus.
  • Energetic, forward thinking and creative with high ethical standards.
  • Experience in high performance work and have participated in creating new environments which support diversity and inclusion.
  • Must be articulate, have the ability to relate to people at all levels of an organization and possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • An excellent facilitator/coach, and is experienced in resolving conflicts.
  • Significant experience in recruiting, employment law, compensation, benefits, employee relations, training and professional development.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.

 
Additional Information:

Salary Grade 31: $128,021 - $165,147
