The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director of Civil Rights and Institutional Equity and Title IX Coordinator. The Assistant Director is responsible for receiving, conducting, and leading prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of all reported cases of harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, and/or retaliation arising under the University's Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Protocol and the University's Sexual Misconduct Policy. The Assistant Director is responsible for working with the Executive Director in reviewing and updating standard protocols for investigations, including communication with the parties, communication with other relevant personnel, documentation of investigative work and other investigative procedures. The position requires knowledge of federal and state affirmative action, equal employment, and educational opportunity laws and policies, including but not limited to Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act and Title IX of the Educational Amendments, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 503/504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Age Discrimination Act, the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act, the Violence Against Women's Reauthorization Act, and the Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act. The Assistant Director also helps design and conduct effective trainings and educational opportunities on the concepts of harassment, discrimination, and sexual misconduct. The Assistant Director also assists in the implementation and monitoring of the University's Affirmative Action program and reviewing, writing, and revising University policies, procedures, and reports.


Bachelor's degree.
At least three years of professional work experience leading prompt, thorough, and impartial equal employment, affirmative action and/or sexual misconduct investigations.
At least three years of professional experience preparing and providing effective trainings and/or educational opportunities on the concepts of harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment, or related fields.
Comprehensive knowledge of equal opportunity, affirmative action, and educational policies, laws, and regulations, including but not limited to, Titles VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the Educational Amendments, Section 503/504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Age Discrimination Act, the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act, the Violence Against Women's Reauthorization Act, Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act, and any other federal or state anti- discrimination law or regulation.
