The Benefits Administrator position manages all employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, short-term disability, Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings, and tuition reimbursement/waiver programs. This position provides support and customer service to the entire college workforce in this capacity.

  • Manage the compliance initiatives in support of the college fiduciary relative to the 403b, 457, and ARP retirement plans.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all of the employee benefit vendors and ensure benefits are administered according to the agreements. Review weekly reports for accuracy and consistency in payment of claims.
  • Manage the college’s annual open enrollment process by planning and developing the logistics, creating employee materials, coordinating employee sessions and working with benefit vendors to ensure benefit information is accurate and timely.
  • Process disability claims (long and short term and/or disability retirement requests) and life insurance claim forms.
  • Manage the college’s FMLA/ADA processes by meeting with employees and supervisors to determine FMLA eligibility, regularly inform the HR Director and work with the college’s general counsel to make appropriate benefit related decisions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding problems or issues with their benefits and/or claim payments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management or related field required.
  • Minimum of five years’ work experience in employee benefits administration or related field required.
  • Current working knowledge of employee benefits administration and compliance required.
  • Prior work experience in a higher educational institution preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of the following: FMLA; ADA; Affordable Care Act; self-insured insurance and broad knowledge of employee benefits, i.e., medical, dental, life. LTD/STD, FSA, HSA required.
  • Current working knowledge of 401k, 457, 403b, STRS, OPERS or other retirement plan administration preferred; specifically Ohio public college and university fiduciary responsibilities preferred.
  • Current work experience and knowledge of HIPAA, COBRA and IRS regulations that pertain to tuition reimbursement required.
