Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Company’s self-funded and fully-insured employee benefits programs and wellness programs.  Responds to employee and vendor requests for assistance and information regarding all employee benefits programs and wellness programs.  Responsible for day-to-day management and promotion of the Company’s Physical Wellbeing initiative designed to build a culture of health and engage and support employees on their path to individual health and wellbeing.  May assist in reviewing employee benefits programs and health and wellness data; recommending new programs or changes to existing programs to improve cost, quality, engagement or plan efficiency.

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understands the Company’s employee benefit plans and responds to employee inquiries, issues, and requests for information in accordance with the applicable plan documents, benefit booklets and Company policies and practices. May assist in processing employee applications/requests for participation in the Company’s benefits programs.
  • Interfaces with the Company’s employee benefits vendors; including insurance carriers, TPA, PBM and wellness vendors, to assist employees in resolving enrollment/eligibility, claims and service issues.
  • Coordinates annual Open Enrollment activities, onsite health fairs and flu shot clinics at all Company locations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and understands the responsibilities of being a HIPAA Designated Representative for the Company’s self-funded group medical and vision plans.
  • Stays abreast of developments and legislative changes in employee benefits and wellness plan law.
  • Works closely with all levels of management to provide ongoing benefits support and serve as a benefits resource for internal partners. Assists Branch Administrative Managers in all offices, as needed, to ensure benefit programs are being administered consistently Company-wide and in accordance with federal and state leave law.
  • Collaborates on administrative changes to improve the cost, quality and efficiency of the Company’s employee benefits programs.
  • Understands the Company’s Wellness Plan and other wellness programs and responds to employee inquiries in accordance with the applicable plan documents and Company policies and practices.
  • Continuously promote Company’s Physical Wellbeing initiative through health awareness campaigns, healthy events, activities, mobile apps, educational videos, and other available resources. Includes preparation of written materials.
  • May assist in performing research on topics in health promotion and disease prevention and create educational materials.
  • May participate in reviewing and recommending new programs and vendors to sustain behaviors that reduce health risks, improve quality of life, and enhance personal effectiveness and productivity.
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding Wellness Plan and Wellness Incentives and resolves employee issues with personal fitness devices and wellness vendor tracking.
  • Coordinates the Wellness Ambassador program to foster Company’s overall culture of health and wellness.
  • Understands employee leaves and related laws (FMLA, STD, ADA, Workers’ Compensation), coordinating with internal partners, as needed, and assisting in responding to inquiries and requests for information.
  • Works on special projects and performs other job related duties as assigned.
  • Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Requirements

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 10 years general HR administration experience including at least 5 years employee benefits experience. Experience with administration of self-funded health plans required.
  • Work experience demonstrating advanced understanding of employer-sponsored group benefit plans (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, FSA, EAP, 401(k) plans).
  • Strong knowledge of benefits-related laws, including but not limited to ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, GINA, PPACA, MHPAA. Familiar with federal and state leave and accommodation law.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with HRIS software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to adapt and flourish in an environment where there is constant change.
