Are you a Compensation Specialist looking for a dynamic company to join? Roush is seeking a Compensation Specialist to join our team. This would be a great opportunity for a person within the early stages of their professional career! The Compensation Specialist provides full-service consultation on compensation and will collaborate on the development of a new compensation model, including redesigning the salary structure, creating new processes for salary increases and administration, determining the approach to variable pay and helping to provide education to the organization. This position will be located in Livonia, MI.

 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate job positions, determine appropriate job classification, exempt or nonexempt status
  • Ensure company compliance with federal and state labor and pay laws, including reporting requirements
  • Build job descriptions for new jobs and assign appropriate pay grade
  • Conduct classification audits to ensure equitable practices and compliance with federal and state laws
  • Advise managers and employees on state and federal employment regulations, compensation policies, job analysis procedures, and classification process
  • Prepare reports to summarize job analysis and evaluation of the compensation information
  • Research job and worker requirements, structural and functional relationships among jobs and occupations, and occupational trends
  • Complete weekly payroll administration activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in business administration, human resources, finance or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in compensation
  • Experience working with compensation, position development, and reporting within HR/Payroll department
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to compensation decisions and FLSA determinations related to compensation decisions and record requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills reflecting concise, articulate and clear demonstration of the ability to communicate complex information to colleagues
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize and meet project initiatives, while ensuring communication and training required to produce desired results
  • Ability to work both independently and in an engaged team environment
 

Preferred Skills

  • Payroll processing skills/experience
  • Experience with compensation, performance and ERP solutions strongly desired
