Knowledge / Experience You Have:

  • Experience designing, implementing, executing, and overseeing employee support processes (including hiring, terminations, leave management, payroll, and employee changes)

  • Deep understanding of employee timekeeping and payroll processes and compliance

  • Experience diagnosing support process design issues and implementing solutions

  • Track record of cross-functional collaboration, putting ideas into practice, and assessing results

  • Knowledge of the basics of the construction business

  • Knowledge of labor agreements and experience managing labor and union issues

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and statues which govern employment and labor policies and practices

  • Knowledgeable of employee benefits management and desired experience negotiating employee benefits with brokers and/or providers

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and HR Information Systems

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, HR, behavioral sciences or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience managing HR and/or accounting and payroll teams and processes

 

Key Responsibilities in the Role:

  • Reduce the burden of craft processes on all Swinerton stakeholders involved (increase speed, ease, and effectiveness) while successfully balancing compliance risk

  • Design, negotiate, implement, and manage effective craft benefits programs

  • Continuously design and improve our craft support processes to effectively support the needs of our craft population and our different self-perform operating groups

  • Increase understanding among the administrative employee population (focusing on jobsite personnel) of key policy and compliance related issues associated with craft

 

You Will Do:

In this role at Swinerton, you will:

  • Work closely with regional and divisional leadership as well as internal Craft Services team members to design and manage craft support processes that meet the business needs of the organization

  • Deliver business-specific insights and feedback on processes and benefits to the Craft Services group as well as company leadership to improve the company-wide craft strategy

  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal company leadership and project teams

  • Be a thought leader on HR and Accounting/Payroll topics by participating in relevant professional organizations and attending relevant industry events

  • Ensure craft process initiatives are delivered against deployment standards while maintaining appropriate flexibility to ensure local/regional success

  • Develop and manage craft support process targets (key performance indicators/metrics) and provide regular target performance updates and analysis

  • Identify improvement opportunities for craft processes, systems, programs, and support and suggest creative solutions to drive results

  • Develop innovative craft process strategies that emphasize speed and quality while ensuring a positive candidate and employee experience

  • Work with the Craft Services management team and company leadership to continuously improve craft hiring, onboarding, transfers, promotions, payroll, absence management, benefits management, and termination processes to improve simplicity and effectiveness while minimizing potential risk and claims

  • Ensure all craft support processes (onboarding, hiring, E-verify, background checks, terminations, payroll, etc.) are optimized to balance field operations needs and risk

  • Work with Craft Services leadership and the company's Corporate Social Responsibility leader to integrate CSR principles into our craft support processes

  • Provide craft market compensation consultation to division and department leaders, assisting with craft salary planning as requested

  • Work closely with division leaders and financial managers to organize and maintain internal craft billing rates and build-ups across the organization

  • Oversee and manage the Craft Services Support Team’s ability to effectively deliver on the craft-related support needs of the business, including, Craft Benefits administration, compliance, leave and absence management, payroll auditing, hiring, incident and claims assistance, training, etc.

  • Negotiate annual craft benefits offerings with our broker and provider(s) and provide creative solutions for establishing more effective benefits plans for our craft employees (effective for both the organization financially and the craft employees as an acquisition and retention tool)

  • Maintain a strong relationship with our benefits broker and provider(s)

  • Oversee internal marketing efforts to increase awareness around the Support Services team, who they are, what they do, and how to contact them

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant reporting standards including taxes, garnishments, and interfaces for 401k collaboration

  • Serve as resource to employees by answering craft support related questions and concerns
