DIRECTOR-HR HEALTH SYSTEMS

Job Summary

Under direction, to perform and provide leadership and direction to Human Resources Compensation and Benefits, Employee and Labor Relations, and Talent Acquisition areas within the Methodist Hospitals System. Develops and administers compensation and benefit performance management programs. Designs and implements HR processes affecting the compensation and benefit areas of the Human Resources Department. Focuses on benefit and compensation programs that enhance employer retention and recruitment. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a proactive employee relations climate and for directing and conducting the recruitment programs in the Methodist Hospitals System. Provides advice, counsel, and guidance to all levels of leadership concerning employee relations matters. Carries out methodologies to support cultural initiatives, enabling Methodist Hospitals to create a culture of caring as evidenced by the adoption of the Methodist behavioral standards of care. Researches and investigates complaints, grievances, charges and lawsuits. Oversees the corrective active process to ensure a firm, fair, consistent, and caring management approach to disciplinary events. Ensures that comprehensive plans are developed and implemented to provide qualified candidates for position openings. Develops pro-active recruitment strategies, events, and practices to search out and attract qualified candidates. Designs and operates candidate selection procedures that meet the requirements of the System and follow all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations. Creates innovative strategies and carries out plans for strong employee retention.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)

1. Develops, maintains, and administers the compensation/pay programs for staff and management-level employees, which includes job classification, market analysis, cost effectiveness, design of complesnation structures and policies, and supervision of the department staff.
2. Develops and administers benefit and retirement programs for staff and management-level employee.
3. Serves as key project leader in troubleshooting, redesigning, and implementing changes to human resources benefits and compensation processes.
4. Develops budgets for assigned functional areas, monitors budget compliance, and participates in audits, addresses variances, and other budgeting issues.
5. Applies good judgment and establishes credibility in balancing individual employee's and organizational interests when addressing employee relations issues.
6. Develops and consistently implements human resources, employee relations, and employment policies and practices for the System.
7. Directs, plans, manages and ensures the successful implementation of recruitment programs to meet the needs of the System.
8. Investigates complaints, grievances, and internal claims.
9. Communicates and follows up with involved parties, throughout the process, to resolution.
10. Participates as an individual contributor role in more complex human resources technical activities to ensure objectives are met.
11. Monitors issues and areas of concern proactively and reports those trends on a regular basis.
12. Serves as key project leader in troubleshooting, redesigning, and implementing changes to human resources functional processes.
13. Supervises, develops and coaches staff and becomes actively involved in work assignments when staff requires assistance in meeting established schedules or resolving complex problems.
14. Trains leaders on how to handle employee relations issues and to comply with employment laws.
15. Works closely with all levels of leadership to ensure that human resources employee relations and recruitment support meets their operational needs and responds appropriately.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

•Strong team building, analytical, decision making, and problem solving skills
•High degree of leadership and interpersonal skills
•Excellent communication skills
•Ability to use initiative, be self-directed, and use independent judgment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

•Bachelors Degree Required, with a preference toward a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Healthcare Administration;
•Experience emphasis in Employee & Labor Relations, Talent Acquisition, and Compensation & Benefits;
•3 years Director level leadership experience in HR required;
•Strongly preference given to SPHR, PHR candidates.
