The HR Director is a senior member of the Elligo Leadership Team and is the organization-wide leader responsible for the planning and delivery of HR to include talent recruitment, development, performance management, compensation and benefits, payroll, culture and engagement, and implementation of Human Resource systems, processes, policies, and programs. This position works as a business partner to company leadership on issues of significant organizational importance. 


The HR Director will provide expertise across the organization to champion culture, employee engagement and help create and sustain an organization that attracts and retains highly talented, smart people.  We value a consistent and positive experience for all our employees and potential new hires.


Responsibilities include:

  • Acts as a consultant to influence the business, delivers constructive advice, diagnoses and resolves problems and positively influences change. 
  • Champions culture and employee engagement across the organization.  Ensures a positive experience for new hires and potential new hires.
  • Stays accountable for determining, implementing and reinforcing Human Resources and employee-related policies and procedures. 
  • Manages talent recruitment, on-boarding and development, employee engagement, culture development, performance management, employee recognition, legal/regulatory compliance, payroll/state and local tax, and compensation and benefits.
  • Partners with CEO and executive team to ensure alignment of HR practices with corporate direction, strategic initiatives and best practices.
  • Leads and supports the development of a performance-oriented culture through strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Stays accountable for determining, implementing and reinforcing Human Resources policies, practices, and procedures.  Understands HR legal requirements and works with Legal to comply with laws across multiples states (currently 23).  International experience in Canada is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Drives opportunities to communicate key HR and company initiatives. 
  • Provides leadership and management to internal HR Team.  Partners with leaders to recruit and develop internal talent to meet business needs.
  • Provides talent management, leadership training and development expertise to HR team and leaders to ensure strategic workforce plans link to recruiting, talent development and succession planning across multiple sites, positions, and geographies.  Drives compensation philosophy and strategy to successfully hire and retain top talent.


Qualifications and Education Requirements

Critical Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with core HR processes including talent recruitment, on-boarding and development, employee engagement, culture development, performance management, employee recognition, legal/regulatory compliance, payroll/state and local tax, and compensation and benefits.  Leads strategic and tactical execution of core HR processes.
  • Experience supporting a CRO or relevant experience to provide strategic guidance and practices to drive retention and engagement of research operations talent.  
  • Prior experience promoting an atmosphere which inspires employees to excel and develop. 
  • Known for outstanding leadership, team building & attracting talent. An HR professional that is inspirational and creates an atmosphere where people work together enthusiastically and co-operatively to produce outstanding results; one who attracts top talent from outside the organization while developing strong teams within. 
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members to influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work. 
  • Smart, creative, compelling, driven. Not afraid to lead others past their comfort zone(s). Creates a sense of urgency and is energized by speed. 
  • Proven experience working well with others to maintain and build cross-functional relationships. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Prior experience clearly expressing complex ideas, strong presentation skills, and creating complex workforce plans. 


Managerial Responsibilities 

Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 


Education And/Or Experience 

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. 

• At least 10 years of Human Resources experience, prefer SHRM certified. 


Note: A contract research organization (CRO) is a company that provides support to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries in the form of research services outsourced on a contract basis



This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.


Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 37.5 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Minimal (less than 10%) travel is required for this position.
