The Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon (SSMO) Ministries Corporation is seeking a Director of Human Resources. Reporting to the President of the SSMO Ministries Corporation, the new HR Director will lead the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies, programs, and procedures for five corporate entities on the SSMO campus in Beaverton, Oregon.

The campus is located on 43 tree-lined acres, a short distance from the campuses of Nike and Intel. It is home to the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon, Valley Catholic School (Oregon’s only Catholic school serving children and young adults from infancy through high school, and a four-time winner of the Oregonian Cup for excellence), Maryville (offering long-term skilled nursing care, outstanding short-term rehabilitation, and memory care), and the SSMO Foundation.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in an HR leadership role.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HR, business, or a related field.
  • HR Certification (SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP).
  • A track record of working successfully with multiple entities, preferably in education, healthcare, and/or religious communities/organizations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of constituents at every organizational level.
  • Demonstrated expertise at hands-on management in all areas of HR, including compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, training, legal compliance, health and safety, and organizational development.
  • Superior writing, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Very high attention to detail.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a contributing member of the Executive Leadership Team, advising on human resource topics.
  • Address personnel matters and lead research and resolution of employee grievances of the highest complexity and sensitivity.
  • Provide guidance and training to managers on talent strategy, recruitment, regulatory compliance, and employee relations issues.
  • Oversee and develop best practices in the administration of employee benefits programs.
  • Proactively update and develop policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Maintain professional and technical expertise by attending educational events and taking active part in professional networks and organizations.


Compensation:
This is a full-time, salaried position. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will include full benefits: medical/vision insurance (that covers naturopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage therapy); choice of PPO or HMO dental insurance; employer-paid life and disability insurance; a robust employee assistance program; and a retirement plan with generous employer contributions whether employees contribute or not.
