ACTS-Aviation Security Inc. has an immediate opening for a Director, Human Resources at its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. Position is available due to incumbent's upcoming retirement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all Human Resource activities to include employment, compensation, labor and employee relations, benefits, policy development and maintenance of HRIS system.
  • Interviews job applicants for corporate team; reviews application/resume; evaluates applicant skills and makes recommendations regarding applicant's qualifications.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with employment agencies, universities and other recruitment sources.
  • Prepares and maintains Company salary structure, job documentation, and job evaluation systems. Completes salary survey questionnaires.
  • Ensures the preparation, processing and distribution of payroll.
  • Designs new employee orientations.
  • Ensures administration and explanation of benefits to employees, serves as liaison between employees and insurance carriers.
  • Works with Union representatives to resolve labor relations issues, administers grievance process, sits on grievance System Board and is responsible for maintenance and adherence to all Union contracts.
  • Assumes 1st or 2nd chair for Union contract negotiations.
  • Provides advice, assistance and follow-up on Company policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Coordinates the resolution of specific Union or policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
  • Recommends, develops and maintains Human Resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
  • Develops and recommends operating policy and procedural improvements.
  • Manages Regional Human Resource Managers, Recruiters and Administrative staff.
  • Performs specific research/investigation into operational/union issues, as requested.
  • Oversees on-the-job training to new employees through Regional Human Resource Managers and regional trainers.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field

Work Experience:

  • Seven to 10 years of Human Resources management experience working with Union and Non-Union workforces.
  • Previous experience with negotiating Union contracts a plus.
  • Working with work groups covered under RLA and NLRA a plus.

Job Skills:

  • Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit laws.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • PHR or SPHR preferred

Travel:

  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

Environmental Requirements:

  • Normal office environment.
