The Director of Human Resources is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management. The position serves as a consultant to the Vice President of Human Resources and management on human resource-related issues. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates proactively with the HR department and business management seeking to develop integrated solutions. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization

Provides and administers day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals reviews and critiques)

Serves as a primary HR representative to team members providing policy guidance and interpretation

Serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department

Writes job descriptions

Assists VP of HR with job analysis and research of market rates

Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies

Manages and resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations

Assures the filling of present and future manpower requirements through selection techniques and the development and implementation of effective recruiting methods to include designing recruiting materials and ads. Recruits, screens, and interviews candidates; coordinates drug testing and background checks; participates in job fairs; communicates pay systems and benefits to prospective employees; composes written letters of offers, job acceptance letters; and new hire documentation

Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required

Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention

Develops terms for new hires, promotions and transfers

Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning

Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs

Participates in development, facilitation, evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met

8 years generalist experience in Human Resource management

SHRM certification preferred

Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong performance management expertise

Extensive knowledge of principles and processes of Human Resource management

Knowledge of HRIS software

Required knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulatory compliance

Proficient in MS Office
