ABOUT DECATUR

 

Located in Northeast Indiana, Decatur is a city of approximately 10,000 people and serves as the county seat of Adams County, which has a population of approximately 35,000. Decatur is located thirty minutes from Fort Wayne (population 265,000) and is convenient to Indianapolis (2 hours); Columbus, Ohio (2 hours thirty minutes); and Chicago (3 hours). THE JOB

 

Due to growth, Adams Health Network is seeking a Director of Human Resources (DHR) who is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies in support of Adams’ vision, strategic direction, and business plan objectives. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the DHR is an active advisor to the Senior Leadership Team as well as a key executive partner and coach who is tasked with facilitating strategic planning and initiatives and organizational change management. This position is also responsible for leading employee commitment and managing HR infrastructure.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategic Human Resource Management

  • Participate with Senior Leadership in developing Adams Memorial’s values, vision and business plans as it relates to HR.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Senior Leadership Team by regularly contributing to human capital decisions related to business outcomes.
  • Design and implement HR strategies to align with and support business objectives, specifically in the areas of talent acquisition, employee and organizational performance management, compensation and benefits, talent management, staff retention, training and development and succession planning.
  • Partner with Senior Leadership Team members in predicting the probability of achieving business goals, diagnosing problems and prescribing solutions in relationship to human resources utilization.

 

Change Management
  • Understand Adams’ current culture and define gaps between existing and desired culture.
  • Lead and facilitate process of identifying key success factors for building change capacity and for developing and implementing activities to improve each success factor.
  • Assist management staff in carrying out change-related activities and monitoring progress.

 

Employee Commitment Management
  • Know employees and anticipate their concerns, needs, and issues.
  • Advocate for employee needs and management’s concerns about employees.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization by listening effectively and resolving employee issues.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of new programs/strategies as they affect the attraction, motivation, development and retention of employees.
  • Ensure employees have necessary resources to fully commit themselves to achieving Adams Memorial’s business objectives.

 

HR Infrastructure Management

  • Ensure customer service mindset at the core of HR service delivery.
  • Assess competitiveness of HR processes, programs, policies and practices against comparable organizations on a continual basis; keep up to date on HR trends and best practices.
  • Improve HR service quality and reduce costs by identifying and re-engineering inefficient and/or ineffective HR processes and by utilizing best practices.
  • Apply state of the art information technology to streamline, automate and improve efficiency of HR processes. Implement Kronos HR functions.
  • Build and maintain high-performing HR team and hospital volunteer function.

Requirements

 

  • Master’s degree prepared in a HR related field required.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • 15+ years of HR experience, with at least five years of executive-level HR leadership preferred.
  • Previous experience with transformation of HR from traditional to strategic model highly desired.
  • Experience with transitioning technology infrastructure and resources.
