The Director of Human Resources will lead the HR function and strategy for Overhill Farms and play a key role in developing and leading a talent and human capital that aligns with the division's business priorities. A business partner, the Director of Human Resources will collaborate with business leaders and teams to identify opportunities and develop solutions and strategies. This role will ensure results and impact. Through a hands-on, active, and visible management approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and diagnose talent and organizational issues, and partner with business leaders to implement solutions.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition resources to source and staff a diverse workforce, and ensure a positive on boarding experience.

  • Partner with executive leaders to ensure a solid succession plan is in place for all critical roles.

  • Develop and lead training across multiple levels and topics.

  • Lead employee relations in a non-union environment. Manage labor relations for the union environment.

  • Lead culture and develop action plans to ensure a positive, engaging, and productive workplace.

  • Coordinate workers’ compensation program, including management of claims and proactive prevention of work-related incidents.

  • Design, implement, and maintain compensation program to ensure external competitiveness and internal equity.

  • Implement, integrate, maintain and utilize various HR systems such as HRIS/Payroll and employee service, applicant tracking systems, learning management tracking, performance management.

  • Engage in the new employee orientation process to ensure that all employees understand the company policies, benefits, employment standards, culture, and code of conduct, etc.

  • Develop department goals, objectives, and systems.

  • Develop and maintain affirmative action program; file EEO-1 report annually; manage other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

  • Lead talent acquisition and manage the recruitment effort for exempt and nonexempt employees.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of prior Human Resources Generalist and Leadership experience
  • Manufacturing environment experience is required, preferably in the food industry
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of California Employment Law
  • Experience supporting unionized client groups
  • Experience with oversight of benefits, payroll worker’s comp planning, insurance agreements, and labor relations
  • Experience with OSHA, FSLA and other governmental guidelines and regulatory agencies
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of payroll systems – particularly UltiPro is preferred.

 

 Skills & Capabilities:

  • Understanding of all of the core aspects of Human Resource Management (staffing; employee relations; performance management; leadership development; training)
  • Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items
  • Previous talent management and succession planning experience
  • Proven ability to influence decision making
  • Must possess executive presence to include very strong communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization
  • Strong expertise in developing solutions based upon facts/data analytics
  • Must possess consultative style and approach with proven ability to develop credible relationships with business partners
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present their point of view in varied business situations
  • Strong MS Office Skills particularly EXCEL

 

Educational Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; major in Industrial/Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, psychology, or other related degrees preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Labor Relations, or Human Resources Management preferred.
