A mid-size Chicago law firm is seeking a Human Resource Coordinator to join our team. Job Description:

The human resources coordinator provides assistance with and facilitates all human resource processes for all business locations. This role administers employee health plans and acts as liaison between employees and management. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The human resources coordinator makes sure that all plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed.

This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years Human Resources Experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures prompt completion of the on-boarding activities for positions at all firm locations. Responsibilities include tracking onboarding paperwork, initiating background checks, creating offer letters, entering new hire data into the HRIS and internal database, and communication/coordination with appropriate internal partners/managers as needed.
  • Responsible for processing all terminations including creating termination letters, updating payroll system and internal database, and communication/coordination with appropriate internal partners/managers as needed.
  • Complete employee status changes including creating status change letters, creating Personal Action Requests(PARs) updating employees in the payroll system and internal database, and ensuring the appropriate employees are notified as needed.
  • Coordinates responses to questions and issues from all employees.
  • Verifies timely completion of I-9s, and stores files properly.
  • Ensures all data bases are updated to reflect current employee information (i.e., addresses, direct deposit, etc.).
  • Responds to and coordinates requests for information including unemployment claims and verifications of employment.
  • Ensures prompt distribution of live pay statements after payroll processing.
  • Creates and maintains all employee personnel file and e-file folders.
  • Handles administrative duties relating to all aspects of Human Resource functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
