The Human Resources Generalist at AJC Logistics provides comprehensive support and consultation to their respective geography in the areas of: talent acquisition and retention, total rewards, performance management, talent planning and development, employee relations and legal compliance.  With considerable latitude for independent judgment and discretion, administers all human resources policies and programs, balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs.  Serves as a trusted partner to AJC Logistics business leaders to fully understand business issues and how HR can best support achieving results.  Builds relationships across the employee base to drive organizational effectiveness; using their mastery in the field and industry knowledge to maximize productivity and drive change.  Works collaboratively with HR Manager and HR team members to promote the consistent approach of HR practices throughout the organization.

 

 

Requirements

Scope of Responsibility

-Assures company policies and practices are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws;

-Consults with all levels of management on the following HR solutions including, but not limited to:  employee relations, staffing, compensation and benefits, performance management and development, organizational and change management issues;

-Acts as an employee advocate, ensuring employees and managers are able to express concerns in a manner that is respectful and supportive of our values and objectives;

-Informs, educates and disseminates information on all human resources programs, policies and procedures in their respective geography;

-Recruits and sources talent from internal and external sources; developing relationships with professional recruitment agencies, schools, and all levels of internal management and employees to identify and track candidates;

-Responsible for full cycle recruiting, including writing/posting positions, phone screens, coordinating/conducting interviews, reference checks, coordinating final assessments of candidates to optimize hiring process, administers employee referral program for geography;

-Expedites on-boarding of new hires (employment verifications, announcements, paperwork, orientations, payroll and benefits set-up, etc.);

-Processes and administers all compensation and benefits programs, including annual merit and bonus plans, annual performance reviews, annual benefits open enrollment process, paid time off, service awards, leaves of absence, workers compensation programs, and handling of all ad-hoc inquiries;

-Ensures timely and accurate entries of employee data in the company HRIS system and on-line organizational charts to ensure data integrity for dashboard, government, payroll delivery, and ad-hoc reporting;

-Maintains employee records in compliance with federal, state and local requirements;

-Performs employee relations function, including supporting and counseling regarding problem solving and conflict resolution, performance issues and assessment of termination requests; conduct exit interviews as needed;

-Conducts special projects as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.

 

Essential Skills

-Knowledge of local, state and federal employment law;

-Knowledge of wage and hourly law (administrative and warehouse staff);

-Superior recruitment experience including but not limited to sourcing, screening, behavioral interviewing through to final selection.

-Specialized knowledge of human resources concepts, practices and procedures;

-Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing;

-Sensitivity to and ability to adhere to strict confidentiality;

-Ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize effectively;

-Must have attention to detail to accomplish tasks thoroughly and accurately;

-Must be customer focused, taking personal responsibility to consult and coach to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction;

-Ability to strike appropriate balance between employee and company needs;

-Must be a team player, able to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment;

-Ability to work confidently in a matrix organization;

-Strong PC skills and proficient in MS Office applications, applicant tracking systems, web based performance evaluation tools.

Experience & Education

-Bachelor’s Degree

-3–5 years of progressive human resources experience;

-Experience within the transportation, warehouse or logistics industry.

-Human Resources certification preferred;
