HR Generalist - Benefits

Position overview: This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and performs a variety of HR functions and duties for the Office of Human Resources, with a primary focus on benefits. 

Essential job functions:

  • Daily coordination of the University’s benefits plans, including health insurance; life, dental, disability and worker’s compensation insurance plans.
  • Coordinate open enrollment and maintains Section 125 Flexible Spending Accounts, health insurance, dental insurance, and voluntary life insurance
  • Manage 403b retirement plans and process applications
  • Manage benefits, and deduction in the University’s HRIS
  • Enter and maintain personnel data in Colleague, ADP, and EZ Labor and generate reports as needed.
  • Monitor and manage time and labor including the awarding and functioning of paid time off benefits in ADP Time & Attendance.
  • Create data query report requests from HRIS.
  • Administer FMLA policy; short and long term disability insurance.
  • Maintain HR Metrics for medical claims and employment of staff and faculty and benefits.
  • Verify and process unemployment claims
  • Process and update workers compensation claims.
  • Process tuition remission paperwork
  • Update and maintain Summary of Benefits
  • Assist employees with benefit and other miscellaneous questions 

Secondary job functions:

  • Participate in various campus committees
  • Cross-train and provide back up for HR teammates
  • Audit work of HR teammates
  • Other related duties as assigned

Work schedule: This is a full-time, exempt position with occasional weekend and evening hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field strongly desired
  • 3-5 years of human resources experience
  • Solid PC proficiencies, including ADP, HRIS, report generator/query builder software, MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and team-building skills are required.
  • Must be trustworthy with sensitive information and able to function directly in a multi-tasking, deadline-driven environment.
  • Polished interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong client service outlook.
  • Excellent conversational and written English skills
  • Ability to sit for long periods, keyboard for extended periods, speak and understand English fluently.
