Job Summary 

This position will provide operational and strategic Human Resources guidance and support to the Charlotte, NC facility. Services include, but are not limited to, employee relations, legal compliance, recruitment and staffing, employee communications, compensation and benefits, performance management, and organizational and employee development. Will work closely with all levels of the organization HHI management and employees, corporate and outside legal counsel, governmental agencies, outside vendors and consultants.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities 

  • (15%) Accurately assess quality of organizational health. Maintain positive employee relations climate by effectively anticipating, coaching, counseling and resolving employee concerns, complaints and questions
  • (10%) Partner effectively with distribution management team and build trust-based relationships. Proactively challenge and influence managers to help achieve optimum balance between business demands and employee needs
  • (10%) Work effectively within all levels of the organization. Excellent communicator with ability to tailor communication style to audience and effectively relate to staff all levels of organization
  • (10%) Recruit, evaluate, select and retain high performing employees for positions with in the DC
  • (10%) Assure consistent application of HR policies, practices, procedures, and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations
  • (10%) Facilitate performance appraisal systems that effectively link individual performance and organizational goals
  • (5%) Administer performance-based compensation programs to achieve and maintain internal equity and external competitiveness. Facilitate annual salary plan processes
  • (5%) Facilitate organizational reviews/succession planning processes. Assist in identification and prioritization of employee training and development needs
  • (5%) Provide and facilitate appropriate training programs independently and in conjunction with the LOD team
  • (5%) Assist in development and implementation of employee communications plans that support corporate culture while focusing on business objectives, priorities and results
  • (5%) Partner effectively with operations to drive a safe and clean working environment
  • (5%) Ensure legal compliance in all areas of the function, including but not limited to wage and hour regulations, interview and new hire processes, records retention, employee relations, benefits administration, worker’s compensation and others…
  • (5%) Other duties as required


Education and Experience Profile 

  • Bachelor's Degree required. HR Professional (PHR) certification preferred
  • A minimum of four years HR generalist experience, with at least two years’ experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment

Required Skills 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to express viewpoints clearly and persuasively, and explain objectives and expectations thoroughly, at all organization levels, in one-on-one, group settings (i.e. presentations), and remote (i.e. e-mail, phone) communications
  • Basic understanding and ability to interpret and apply Federal/State employment laws
  • Familiarity with contemporary best HR and management policies and practices, e.g., recruitment, selection, performance management, employee development, HRIS, and recognition and reward (e.g. compensation and incentive) systems and structures
  • Ability to set expectations for employee behavior and act as a cultural role model for the organization
  • Capable of providing accurate and candid feedback and effectively coaching and influencing employees and managers
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Proficient in use of e-mail application
  • Skilled in utilization of HRIS tools.
