Under general supervision, the Employee Relations Specialist is

responsible for (1) routine processing and tracking all leave evaluation

and documentation; (2) coordinating high volume activity concerning

filing of leave of absence forms, follow-up and documentation; (3)

responding with accuracy and timeliness to employee leave inquiries

from department managers, supervisors and employees. The Employee

Relations Specialist will be an active participant in the creation and

administration of the enterprise-wide centralization of leaves of absences

as a part of Human Resources service delivery. This role will require

effective and active listening, collaborative teamwork, strategic analysis

and assurances to meet deadlines as required. This position will work

closely with other members of the HR team, including the Risk Manager,

Benefits Manager, as well as Payroll and our County Attorneys, and the

leave tracking and disability services vendors, department heads/elected

officials, managers and supervisors.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.

• Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.

Required work experience:

• One year of experience in benefits administration, disability claims

handling, and/or customer service.

• Previous experience with Leave of Absence administration, including

FMLA.

Required skills, knowledge and abilities:

• Possess demonstrated expertise in workplace accommodations,

disability management with strong knowledge of the ADA/ADAAA, and

other applicable regulations.

• Customer Service focused.

• Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel required;

experience with Access a plus.

• Strong analytical skills: able to analyze problems and devise

appropriate solutions.

• Effective at managing multiple priorities.

• Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines based on

supervisory guidance.

• Excellent listening skills, verbal communications skills and time management

skills.

• Ability to quickly adapt to changing processes and technology, and

contribute to quality solutions to promote efficiency and standardization.

• Maintain confidentiality at all times.

• Self-motivated, able to multi-task and complete various tasks related

to a high volume of time-sensitive responsibilities.

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
