Chenega Professional Services SBU is seeking an HR Generalist to administer human resources policies and procedures that cover two or more functional areas. Collects and analyzes HR data, and then makes recommendations to management. Processes paperwork for functional area according to established procedures. May prepare internal employee communications regarding compensation, benefits, or company policies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)

  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Coordinates new hire paperwork with new hires and ensures it is completed appropriately and submitted to the Corporate office in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates the pre-employment processes, to include drug testing and background checks in accordance with company policy
  • Serves as liaison with Chenega Corporate office for human resources related issues.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Creates and maintains metrics on personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics.
  • In coordination with the Corporate office, ensures that  management is knowledgeable in the best practices for terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • Ensures compliance with required federal training, such as Ethics training.
  • Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues in accordance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, 401k plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carrier.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Coordinates Training & Education Reimbursements in accordance with company policy.
  • Assists payroll and operations with timesheet compliance.
  • Occasional travel to off-site work locations may be required

Work Environment:

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.  Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four to seven years experience with Government Contracting including Davis Bacon and/or SCA contracts.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred or able to obtain an HR certification.
  • Experience with Taleo Transitions and Deltek CostPoint a plus
