Overview

Reporting to the HR Supervisor, the HR Generalist is responsible for performing a variety of HR-related functions with a focus on recruitment and FMLA/Leave administration.

Recruitment

  • Manage recruitment process for a variety of positions across all areas of the business to include sourcing, screening, interviewing, candidate selection, and candidate offers/negotiations.
  • Develop relationships and partner with hiring managers on hiring needs and requirements. Create or modify job descriptions as needed.
  • Identify and develop channels to recruit and develop active and passive candidate pipelines including creative sourcing techniques, developing connections with local colleges and other organizations, and participating in job fairs.

Leave Administration

  • Administers leave programs such as short term disability, FMLA, bereavement, and other company leaves of absence.
  • Communicates with colleagues, managers and benefit providers to provide information, assistance and resolution regarding Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA), short-term disability (STD), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.

General

  • Assist with or coordinate Andis company events or safety trainings.
  • Recommend changes in procedures or practices to increase department efficiency or work-flow
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and reporting.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field in required. PHR or SHRM CPs preferred.
  • Prefer a minimum of three years of experience in a recruiting role with demonstrated success in sourcing and full-cycle recruiting of a wide variety of positions. Previous experience with FMLA administration is highly preferred.
  • Hands on experience using an ATS and HRIS system is required. Knowledge of iCims is a plus.
  • Organized method of maintaining applicant information in compliance with affirmative action reporting requirements and recordkeeping compliance.
  • Full comprehension of general employment laws, as well as FMLA and ADA regulations.
  • Excellent written communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to travel locally on occasion to attend job fairs and meet driving requirements. Must be able to have some flexibility to work early or late hours to assist with candidate availability, attend job fairs and assist with company events and functions.
  • Excellent computer skills required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must have high level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and establish rapport with all levels of the company with specific experience in negotiating, compromising and consulting.
