The human resources manager plays a key role in the success of Teknor Apex by helping the Tennessee management team achieve business goals and objectives. The HR manager will work closely with plant management to foster positive culture transformation and support growth initiatives. This position will drive the implementation and administration of a wide range of human resources programs for a three shift, multi-site, 600+ employee manufacturing facility. Some of the responsibilities include employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, training, implementation of strategic HR programs, and administering benefits information. This position reports directly to the general manager with dotted line reporting to the director of HR North America.

Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

  • Work closely with and provide guidance to management with day-to-day employee relations resolution, and assist with the development of management’s understanding of our values and employment law.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and union avoidance through interaction with all employees including formal training for staff.
  •  Experience exploring employee relations issues and conducting thorough investigations when required.
  • In partnership with the director, N.A. HR, lead the development, dissemination, interpretation and implementation of our policies at the site as well as provide insight to leader into the impact of such initiatives.
  • Lead HR communications and other people initiatives such as performance management, open enrollment, worker’s comp program and training programs.
  • Coordinate local employee relations activities (service awards dinners, holiday baskets, community service projects, family day, etc,)

 Talent Management/Development/Acquisition

  • Lead the development of training procedures for the site as well as establish and maintain training documentation required for ISO and other initiatives.
  • Work with management team to develop and deliver required training programs for new and existing employees, including new employee orientation.
  • Lead local recruiting and partner with corporate Talent Acquisition team when needed and business leaders to fill open positions for the site.
  • Builds relationships across all departments and functions to understand business needs, share candidate and hiring manager experiences.
  • Source candidates through various internet and social media platforms, cold-calling, networking, employee referrals, internal movement and other creative sourcing venues.
  • Recommends qualified candidates to hiring managers and is responsible for maintaining the appropriate staging levels for the site and ensuring a high touch candidate experience.
  • Build talent pipelines and succession plans for exempt and non-exempt workforce.
  • Oversee the administration of the new hire process.

Performance Management

  • Understand the underlying issues related to common employee relations/employee performance issues and recommend, develop, and implement agency-wide HR initiatives.
  • Implement workforce planning strategies.
  • Lead the annual review process which includes managing the merit and bonus cycle.
  • Coach and mentor management on how to manage performance within their given departments/functions.

Compensation Management

  • In this role, you will partner with the director of compensation and business leaders to facilitate wage and salary changes by overseeing the annual merit cycle for exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employees.

Benefits and Worker’s Comp

  • Oversee the local administration of employee benefits and assists in problem resolution.
  • Manage worker’s compensation claims. Interact with insurance company, medical providers and attorneys. Responsible for moving claims to a close, returning employees to work/light duty programs, monitoring reserve allocations, negotiating settlements, going to trial.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources, Psychology, Business or equivalent; MBA, preferred

 Work Experience

  • 5+ years of Human Resource management experience in manufacturing.
  • 10+ years of management experience within a HR functional area

 Preferred Professional Certifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or equivalent
  • Project Management – PMP, CAPM
