Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua America? We have a great opportunity for a HR Business Partner II. In this role, the ideal candidate will serve as the HR partner, employee champion, and talent driver for our Operations group. Working with our HR Expertise areas, the Human Resources Business Partner will manage and implement HR interventions, balancing the needs of the business with the overall HR strategy. The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource related issues, while assessing, anticipating and resolving HR related needs. The position formulates partnerships across the business to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise leaders and managers on strategies to grow talent and develop capabilities.
  • Provides employee relations support, counseling employees and managers on ways to improve performance and collaboration. Assists supervisors with discipline and investigations and makes recommendations to supervisors and other management.
  • Participate in the execution of Labor Relations strategies and the resolution of Labor Relations issues.  Responsible for compliance with Union Contract(s). Fosters relationships with employees and management along with union business agents and stewards.
  • Direct interaction and communication with union members regarding HR policies and procedures.  
  • Partners with recruiting team to ensure we attract top talent and support a quality on-boarding experience. Participate in the selection of candidates for senior positions.
  • Partners with COEs to support roll-out of learning and development initiatives.
  • Manages and provides support to employees, managers and leaders on annual HR processes including performance management, compensation, and succession.
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of HRIS (Workday experience preferred) and ability to create and maintain reports and queries as required. 

  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources preferred) with a minimum of five years exempt HR experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of union requirements related to human resources and employee management, including managing and negotiating up to 10 contracts and related federal and state employment laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of union / labor contracts.
  • Knowledge of union labor relations principles and practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic planning skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • The successful candidate will have prior experience with talent retention and development, employee and labor relations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present training programs and lead presentations are required.
  • Must have ability to work in a highly confidential area with changing priorities requiring organization and flexibility. 
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and the outside public.
  • Experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • HR certifications preferred (PHR, SHRM)

 

Knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and application of federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Familiar with the concepts of organizational design.
  • Experience coaching managers in addressing ER/LR issues.
  • Demonstrated ability advising on talent management and employee development plans.
  • Experience on a team in merger or acquisitions desired.
  • Strong consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and partnership focus. Proven ability to build relationships, trust, and rapport, as well as impact, influence and collaborate at all levels of management.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as within a team with a high level of collaboration, professionalism, personal integrity, and dependability.
