The Human Resources Business Partner encompasses exposure to a variety of general HR functions, including, but not limited to, Staffing & Recruiting, Employee Relations in a union environment, Training, Compensation and Benefits, and other related areas. In addition, the HR Manager works independently and proactively, is more visible to the business, and assists the Regional Vice President, Directors, Managers & Supervisors in handling more challenging and less routine issues/projects. The HR Manager will support their clients in their organizations (regions). Provide resources and build relationships always focused on the missions and objectives set forth by their leadership. Fully aligned with their teams. Adapt and become more of a strategic resource. Develop an agenda that closely supports the overall goals of the organization, true business partnering.

  • Provides generalists support for individual contributor and supervisory/front-line manager level colleagues within an assigned population.
  • Proactively develops relationships within assigned population and acts as point of contact.
  • Provides quality customer service surrounding the Company values.
  • Delivers excellent internal and external customer satisfaction by demonstrating exemplary leadership.
  • Plans, organizes and assists in supervising departmental activities. Recommends change as necessary.
  • Spends at least 1/3 of their time as a Recruiter for specific job openings.
  • Work directly with department managers to understand their business needs and develop strategies to source candidates.
  • Interviews internal and external candidates to determine qualification and fit.
  • Document all appropriate activity in the company’s Applicant Tracking System.
  • Develops and implements HR policies and programs for the company. Evaluates and updates them as necessary.
  • Stays current on company philosophy, approaches, compensation, benefits and employee relations programs.
  • Conducts fact-finding, investigation and employee issues/concerns, which includes interviewing employees at all levels during investigation and reporting on findings Investigates disputes and/or grievances and recommends corrective action.
  • Establishes and maintains departmental records and reports.
  • Enhances employee productivity and commitment to goals.
  • Conducts supervisor conferences and personally conducts new employee orientation.
  • Maintains professional growth and develop through seminars, workshops and professional affiliation to stay abreast of current laws and trends in field of Human Resources.
  • Routinely makes field visits in order to build relationships with managers and non-management employees in the businesses that they support. Participates in Company meetings as required.
  • Attends and serves on professional/civic/service organizations as a Company representative.
  • Ability to travel/work overnight in designated region.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • 5-8 years Human Resources generalist experience
  • BS/BA in Human Resources or related field
  • Expertise in one or more professional specialties such as recruitment, employee relations, benefits/compensation or EEO
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations
  • Working knowledge and experience in a Collective Bargaining environment
  • Self-starter with high energy, ability to work independently and with others
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred
  • Knowledge of management principals
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse employee populations
  • Ability to speak and hear detailed information and instruction
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • PHR/SPHR preferred
