The Office of the Executive Vice President & Provost at the University of Iowa is seeking an HR professional to join their dynamic human resources team. This coordinator role will be responsible for various HR operations and planning, and ensuring consistency in activities within the org and assigned departments; assisting human resources function/efforts with the HR Manager for the Org. Key areas of responsibility include strategic planning, advising and communication, talent management and engagement, program and operations administration and compliance. This position requires independent judgment and decision making in the application of University and departmental policies and procedures and requires confidentiality and discretion.

 

About the Org: The Office of the Provost provides academic leadership to the University. Its fundamental mission is to champion innovation and excellence in teaching, research, creative production, and service. The provost is a principal participant in collaborative decision-making involving university-wide strategic planning and budget development, management of auxiliary enterprises, health care services, and the conduct of research and scholarship.   The departments under this office are largely student services oriented and the HR team supports the departments’ leaders and staff in their mission.

Requirements

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

One or more years of progressive human resource management experience including knowledge of and ability to implement HR related tasks, processes, and projects to ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly; preferably working with an electronic HR system, reports, payroll, and leave administration.

Demonstrated Experience

Extensive proficiency providing excellent and timely customer service to constituents.

Working knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting human resources policies, practices and procedures.

Working knowledge of and ability to utilize tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data for assigned programs or projects and make recommendations.

Working knowledge of how an organization attracts, recruits, retains, identifies and develops talent; ability to develop the talent required for an organization to achieve its short-term and long-term goals.

Working proficiency and application of communication techniques and relationship building skills to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. Includes excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication.

Highly Desired

Human Resources Certification (i.e. PHR, SHRM-CP) and/or commitment to the HR field through training and development.

Basic understanding and/or direct knowledge of considerations of a public institution and how human resources functions in a large university environment.

Demonstrated commitment toward collaboration and diversity.
