Organization

 

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. CCSSO seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public.

 

Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator will work closely with the Human Resources Manager and the Human Resources team to deliver outstanding human resources and payroll support to the organization. The focus of this position is to coordinate and carry out the administrative functions of Human Resources, and handle all payroll related functions to include verifying employee compliance with time keeping policies and processes.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Prepare and submit  bi-weekly payroll

  • Correspond with candidates regarding status and availability of positions and assist with interview scheduling

  • Maintain employee and payroll records

  • Complete pre-employment checks

  • Assist with onboarding

  • Performs benefits administration and assist with open enrollment

  • Manage commuter benefits

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned 

Education and/or Experience

Some College preferred with a minimum of  two (2) years of payroll experience required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High degree of professionalism; able to deal with extremely confidential information

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Able to work independently and efficiently

  • Solid customer service skills

  • Knowledge of Payroll and HR regulations and policies

  • Must have a sense of urgency

  • Must be reliable

  • Strong organizational skills


Technical Skills 

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to use ADP Resource, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and have created or used charts, spreadsheets, and databases. Successful incumbents are proficient at using WebEx, Outlook, and Intranet/Internet tools.
