Position Description:

The HR Director provides support in the achievement of strategic goals and objectives of the company; and is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources function. Additionally, the HR Director acts as an effective business consultant and resource to clients providing assistance in a variety of services including; employee relations, investigations, and providing recommendations and guidance in developing applicable policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to Executive Management for improvement of the company’s policies, procedures, and practices and personnel matters.
  • Communicates changes in the company’s personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for the company’s compliance with all applicable Federal and State legislation pertaining to all personnel matters; and conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations when necessary.
  • Works directly with department managers to provide guidance and assist them in carrying out their day-to-day performance management responsibilities (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Coordinates and/or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations, and develops strategic initiatives to effectively reduce turnover.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by the CEO on personnel matters.
  • Identifies training needs and recommends; evaluates, and participates in Staff Development for all affiliated with the company; follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Assists Executive Management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the company’s wage and salary program.
  • Responsible for developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow throughout the Human Resources department.
  • Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets the company’s personnel information needs.
  • Recommends, evaluates, and negotiates annual selection of employee insurance and benefit plans.
  • Participates on committees, special projects, cross-functional projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Develop, generate and analyze reporting pertaining to employee information and data, including; benefits costs, staffing levels/deployment, turnover, absenteeism, affirmative action/EEO, compensation, promotions, etc.
  • Supervises the staff of the Human Resources Department.

 

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and six to ten years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to employees, public groups and/or Executive Management either in writing or verbally.
  • Ability to have a positive and respectful attitude, and act as a role model within and outside the company.
  • Previous experience in the staffing industry.
