General Purpose of the Position:

The Human Resource Generalist runs the daily functions of the Human Resource Department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, training, performance management, benefits, and leave, as well as enforcing company policies and practices.

 Education, Experience, and Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Required:

A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years Human Resources Experience or a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management and two (2) years Human Resources Experience. SHRM and/or HCI certification a plus. Must have knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems. Should have knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources. Must have knowledge of Personnel Resources – Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Must be able to access, input, retrieve and interpret information using various computer systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office and ADP Workforce Now. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and knowledge of weights and measures. Ability to make presentations to small or large groups. Strong Interpersonal Skills. Excellent written and Verbal Communication Skills. Outstanding service orientation; sense of urgency; high-level of personal integrity.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks, drug screens and employee eligibility verification.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
