About the Job

We are currently looking for a Human Resources Generalist-Engagement in Glen Allen, VA. This position is a key contributor in the areas of engagement, communication, onboarding and employee relations. This role focuses on identifying needs and facilitating solutions that will improve retention and optimize the employee experience at Retail Data.

Essential Functions


  1. Conduct employee workplace surveys, tabulate and present survey results. Facilitate survey action planning.
  2. Publish quarterly Company Newsletters (HQ and field) -- includes gathering articles, editing, and distribution.
  3. Analyze Data Collector exit survey responses (monthly); report trending feedback, make recommendations to address feedback trends.
  4. Conduct exit interviews with corporate employees.
  5. Manage content of corporate HQ virtual communication board.

Recruiting/Onboarding/Employment Brand

  1. Application review, phone screens, reference checks, ATS administration, schedule and monitor candidate interviews.
  2. Candidate onboarding -- confirming the managers checklist completion, day-one readiness prep.
  3. Provide Human Resources consultation and support on employee and candidate facing communications (website, intranet, posters, etc.)
  4. Maintains, monitors, and develops content on various site and portals (including but not limited to the corporate web site, intranet, GlassDoor, Twitter); research and identify opportunities for increased social media presence.

Employee Relations

  1. Conducts internal investigations to identify appropriate outcomes and documents findings. Applies understanding of corporate policies, employment law and other regulations when providing guidance. Consults with Human Resources Director as needed to obtain advice on employee matters and problem resolution.
  2. Helps establish and report on employee relations metrics
  3. Ensures compliance with EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, USERRA, ERISA and other state and federal employment laws.
  4. Responsible for accurate and timely State and Federal reporting (may include: AAP, EEO, VETs-100, etc.)
  5. Keeps apprised of HR Law updates and ensures company compliance.
  6. Assists in evaluating and writing departmental policies and procedures; makes recommendations on improving workflow and efficiencies. Keeps employee handbook current.
  7. Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree; and
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources or corporate training experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
