Job Summary:

The Atlantic Council is seeking a talented, energetic and motivated HR Generalist to manage the Council’s various HR systems, benefits administration and HR administrative functions under the guidance and direction of the Director of Global HR and Talent Development. 

The successful candidate will be capable of working with a small team of three HR professionals to support approximately 350 staff members in an entrepreneurial, mission driven and diverse organization. S/he will have strong experience in benefits administration, payroll processing, and various HR support functions. S/he will pay close attention to details to ensure accurate and timely processing while providing a high level of customer service. 

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about human resources, communicates effectively, thrives in the fast-paced environment, capable of embracing ambiguity, and able to manage the high-level multitasking challenges of a busy and dynamic HR department. The candidate must be discreet, collegial, reliable, exceptionally organized, and ideally, have an interest in nonprofit, foreign policy or international affairs. 

Job Responsibilities:

Compensation and Payroll: 
• Oversee pay administration and track all employee changes for each pay period, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws; 
• Process employee changes in system; 

Benefits Administration: 
• Manage benefits enrollment and administration for all employees (health and dental insurance, pension, flexible spending accounts etc);
• Present Benefits paperwork to all new Employees, answering questions as required;
• Complete annual Paychex ESR; 
• Manage pension plan and spreadsheets, updating changes in system; coordinate 403B audit;
• Manage STD/LTD claims processing;
• Manage FMLA process of notification, leave tracking, required communication;
• Manage Annual Open Enrollment for health and dental plans and FSA; ensure Annual Plan Documents and SBC’s are updated to ensure compliance; send notifications of SBCs to employees;

HR Documentation: 
• Manage documentation relating to personnel;
• Draft all offer letters for permanent and contract employees, nonresident fellows, and 1099 consultants;

Recruitment and Staffing: 
• Provide support to recruitment process to include scheduling interviews, declining candidates, managing Hiring Files;

Performance Management: 
• Prepare Annual Review Binders and spreadsheets;

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Psychology, or related field; HR certification highly preferred;
• 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources support function, experience with payroll, HRIS and benefits administration preferred; 
• Experience with Paychex Payroll and HRIS system preferred; 
• Excellent organizational skills and experience multitasking;
• Strong relationship management skills with ability to interface with all levels of the organization from interns to executives;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail; 
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
• Superior internet research skills with ability to take initiative on projects; 
• Professional telephone presence and interpersonal skills.
