Job Description Summary

This position reports to the Director, Organizational Development & Effectiveness. The Manager of Human Resources & Talent Management serves as a consultant to the management team on human resource-related issues. This position also serves as an employee/company champion and change agent. They will assess and anticipate HR-related needs within business units, address needs proactively in conjunction with other HR functions and executive management, develop integrated solutions and formulate partnerships across the Company to deliver value-added service to management and employees. This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for a team of three (3) to four (4) exempt and non-exempt employees in the following roles within the HR department; Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, and Employee Engagement, Wellness and Safety



  • BS/BA degree and 5-7 years in Human Resources or related discipline preferred or 8 to 10 years of human resources experience with particular emphasis on generalist duties and responsibilities and/or.

  • PHR /SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP highly desirable.

  • Exceptional understanding of federal and state (California and Arizona) employment laws, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Section 125 and cafeteria plan regulations, family medical leave act (FMLA), COBRA administration, OSHA, proper filing of I9s and EEO, reports, storing files/records and destruction timelines and any other applicable human resources compliance issue.

  • Highly proficient in word-processing, calendaring, presentation spreadsheet, human resources information system, and payroll software.

  • Experience in creating learning content including job aids and classroom handouts. Good understanding of adult learning concepts and principals.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and legal updates and utilize this information to update the Employee Handbook (and other HR related forms/documents).

  • Highly skilled at organizing and responding appropriately to competing demands and tasks. High level of organization skill and attention to detail with strong ethics to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate all levels of staff and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

  • Strong ability to work effectively and efficiently in a multi- project, multi-demand environment.

  • Verifiable, clean DMV record and the ability to travel to various locations throughout the U.S. up to 5% of the time

Duties And Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations. This includes ensuring that all documentation is completed and filed.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.

  • Conduct bi-weekly meetings with respective business units to provide consultative services for increased organizational effectiveness.

  • Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Manage the organizations on-boarding (day 1, 15, 30, 60, 90) and off-boarding (exit and separation process) programs.

  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to management team (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Manage all federal, state, local, and company leave programs.

HR Business Partner

  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR functions to develop solutions, programs and policies.

  • Work with HR functions to ensure policies remain up to date and are compliant with all federal, state, and local laws/ordinances. This includes working with Director to update handbook as needed.

  • Supports the HR recruiting function with employment offer terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.

  • Supports HRIS Analyst with temporary employee issues and related HR matters.

  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

  • Partner with SVP and Director to support the teachings of Arbinger throughout the organization.

  • Work with department heads through annual merit increase process to ensure company goals are met. Also work with Payroll/ Benefits Generalist to make changes or updates to compensation information.

Learning & Development

  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.

  • Develop training curriculum, applicable job aids, and guides and present it in the most efficient and effective manner possible.

  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.

  • Work with the external training vendors to deliver tailored training programs and courses.

  • Develop and manage employee development program.


  • Develop, manage, and lead a team of 3A+ self-accountable professionals.

  • Develop a culture of real, personal accountability by modeling the behavior that defines it.

  • Instill a culture of safety and expectation, within your respective area/s.

  • Require direct reports to hold themselves accountable to high standards of, performance and personal conduct, in a clear, helpful, straightforward way.

  • Conduct one-on-one conversations with every direct report, on a quarterly basis, focused on their 3A+ e.g. capabilities, impact and effort.

  • Make decisions and choices, impacting staff, by using the: selection and hiring, clarifying roles and objectives, managing performance, correction & discipline and termination steps as outlined in the “Outward Mindset Skills for Leaders” guide.


  • Utilize all capabilities to achieve the results responsible to achieve, be curious and strive to understand what others are trying to achieve, plan and execute work in a helpful and collaborative manner, be willing to adjust efforts to ensure that work and attitude are helpful to others, be self-accountable, create positive impact, and be diligent in delivering results.

  • Maintain a clean DMV record and the ability to travel to locations throughout the US (mainly California and Arizona) up to 5% of the time.

  • All other duties as assigned.
