Pacific Paper Tube is a family owned manufacturer of paper tubes and cores. Manufacturing plants are located in Portland, OR- Las Vegas, NV- Kent, WA and here in Stockton, CA. Our corporate office in Stockton, CA has an immediate opening for an experienced Human Resources Manager that is motivated, organized, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment that is both challenging and rewarding.   

Summary Description:

Oversees all areas of Human Resources including (but not limited to) recruiting and staffing, payroll HR inputs, benefits, protective leaves, file retention, safety, training and other employee-related plans; responsible for employee communications, works with and develops a rapport with plant managers. Position reports to Company President.

The ideal candidate will be a creative, collaborative, results-oriented leader who is particularly adept at balancing multiple priorities and issues and being decisive. This role requires someone dedicated to developing a strong, diverse, and collaborative organization. have a strong work ethic, a passion for managing the details within a growing business and willing to contribute where necessary.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures; maintains handbook on policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with plant management to recruit, identify, and select candidates to fill vacant positions.
  • Review payroll to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Update payroll records by recording changes including exemptions, rate changes, direct deposits, and department.
  • Process LOA, FMLA approvals. Process health insurance enrollment forms. Administers COBRA.
  • Conducts employee relations counseling, new-employee orientations, and training.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.
  • Conduct effective and timely investigations of employee complaints and employee relations issues.
  • Manage termination process; coordinate separation meeting, process of final wages, witness separations and ensure all required separation documentation is provided to employee and filed in terminated file.
  • Administer workers compensation program: investigate all injuries, first aid and near misses, and work with plant management to reduce all three.
  • Ensures compliance with affirmative action requirements and EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to regulations.
  • Develop/update job descriptions, rules, procedures and policies.
  • Maintains HRIS system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English & Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times and in all situations.
  • Ability to manage a high volume workload and efficiently prioritize competing demands.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and discretion as to confidential and/or sensitive matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong listening skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ownership, commitment to the job, initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively both as a team member and independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Minimum of five years related HR experience, preferably in manufacturing.
  • BS or BA in Human Resources, Business, or related field.

Benefits:

Permanent, full-time exempt position. The schedule is Monday- Friday. We offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, 401K, paid holidays and PTO. Compensation is negotiable and based on experience and education.
