Thompson Machinery, a Caterpillar® dealership, seeks a highly motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills to join the Human Resources team as a Human Resources/Organization Development Specialist based in LaVergne (Nashville), Tennessee.

 

The position will report to the Director of Human Resources and will be responsible for working with leaders within the organization to assist with succession planning, aid in preparing and delivering development strategies for improving individual and organization effectiveness, and for defining and executing employee development activities for professional, supervisory and managerial positions.

 

Our ideal candidate has a background in employee/labor relations in manufacturing, construction, or with skilled trades environments, and should have strong relationship building skills, innovative thinking and a passion for working with people.

Responsibilities:

  • Support leadership by assessing learning needs and providing recommendations for learning and talent development strategies for the organization

  • Leverage HR systems to identify development needs and highlight organizational issues

  • Work with department and people leaders to identify and develop top talent through structured Individual Development Plans

  • Research and create a catalog of relevant, high quality training resources

  • Facilitate and conduct workshops and learning and development experiences

  • Develop trusted relationships to allow coaching and training for leaders and high potential individuals

  • Utilize assessment tools and organization feedback to participate in succession and development planning

  • Coordinate adult learning strategies and techniques with employee groups

  • Provide diagnostic services and drive change management efforts

  • Execute effective performance management in coordination with HR systems

  • Collaborate with hiring managers and recruiting efforts to assess talent and develop talent pipeline

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business Management, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field required

  • 5 years of HR, organization and personnel development experience required

  • Knowledge of organization development diagnostic tools and practices

  • Knowledge of training and development strategies

  • Exceptional consulting, assessment and coaching skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

  • Effective training and facilitation skills for large and small groups

  • Strategic, analytical, detailed, and able to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

  • Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking ability

  • Self-motivated and directed with strong leadership experience

  • Coaching certification a plus
