A high volume precision gear manufacturer located in the western suburb in Illinois is currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist with Safety background. The HR & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring federal and state compliance requirements as well as a wide variety of personnel activities such as employment, payroll, compensation, workers comp, benefits, employee relations and training. Our HR & Safety candidate is hands-on and highly interactive with employees to lead practices and objectives that emphasize quality, productivity, safety, and the recruitment and ongoing development of our workforce.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Payroll: Maintaining(with a high level of accuracy and integrity) employee information in the company’s payroll/HRIS system (Paylocity) to include personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, bi-weekly payroll processing and internal reporting.
  • Record Retention: Creating and maintaining confidential employee personnel files and other employee and HR records.
  • Recruitment: Liaison with temporary agencies to provide the staffing requirements for all positions. Advertise, screen, interview, and recommend placement of applicants.
  • Employee Relations: New Employee Orientation, policy/procedure review, performance review administration, employee relations counseling and terminations.
  • Benefit Administration: Employee enrollment, Claim resolution, reconciles monthly invoices, prepares annual census and coordinates annual open enrollment meeting.
  • Safety: Assist in auditing safety policies to ensure government and/or company compliance. Facilitates workers compensation filings, maintain OSHA logs, provide lost/recordable metrics to management.
  • Training: Design, implementation, track and monitor employee training programs.
  • Administration: Data Entry to the training, attendance and vacation tracking programs.
  • Employee Events: Coordinate special events such as Christmas Party, Employee Picnic, Pot Lucks, Health & Wellness, etc.

Requirements

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in an applicable discipline or equivalent of 5+ years’ experience working in a Human Resources department in a manufacturing environment. SHRM-CP a definite plus
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and confidentiality required
  • Previous experience with payroll, recruitment, benefits and safety is required.
  • Must have proven organization and multi-tasking skills with ability to prioritize.
  • Proven problem solving skills and the ability to make sound business decisions.
  • Strong Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Products a must).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt the communication to the audience
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel
