The Employee and Labor Relations Unit (ELR) provides analysis, consultation, advice and training to campus clients on organizational development, strategic planning, policy and regulatory compliance, interpretation and application of labor contracts, and resolution of workplace issues. This also includes campus advocacy and representation on labor relations matters. ELR staff work collaboratively to establish effective working relationships with clients, campus constituents, and union representatives

Under general supervision, the Leave of Absence Coordinator manages all leave of absences for staff employees at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) from the date of initiation through the return to work date. The Coordinator administers leaves in accordance with established policy and procedures, and in compliance with state and federal law and collective bargaining agreements. The Coordinator advises employees and supervisors on various aspects of leaves of absences to ensure accurate, fair and consistent application of policy and contract provisions. The incumbent also provides support for other ELR functions as needed

The work-site is located off campus at Scotts Valley Center (SVC). Current work-site is UCSC Scotts Valley Center at 100 Enterprise Way, Scotts Valley, CA

Qualifications include:

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other applicable federal, state and local laws

Thorough understanding of how the FMLA, American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Workers' Compensation interrelate

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Excellent interpersonal and verbal/ written communication skill

Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check
