The Manager, Human Resources - California will have a leadership role in providing HR services to OMCA and its subsidiaries in California particularly Omron Delta Tau (“ODT”), Omron Adept Technologies (“OAT”), and Omron Scientific Technologies (“OSTI”). The primary responsibilities include managing the day-to-day HR operations such as legal/regulatory compliance, talent acquisition, and other employee related issues. The position will work closely with the US Human Resources Manager and VP, Human Resources to set general policies and with leadership at the respective OMCA subsidiaries, for which the role serves as an HR Business Partner, to set specific strategy and policies around base salary administration, incentive plans, performance management, talent management and succession planning. This position will also work closely with the US Human Resources Manager, VP, HR and subsidiary leadership to address other strategic and tactical HR and business initiatives that may arise.

 

  • Talent Acquisition – Recruitment and selection of manufacturing, engineering, administrative and management positions and support of recruiting efforts in other areas. Applies customary practices for identifying and interviewing candidates that are the best fit for the position.

 

  • Culture – Represents the Omron Principles through personal and business interactions with employees, customers, distributors, and colleagues. Fosters a spirit of community service and high ethical conduct among all associates. Advises management with respect to employee relations with emphasis on early identification and resolution.

 

  • Compliance – Communicates expectations to Senior Management Team for any compliance issues. Complies with the guidelines established in the Omron authorization tables.

 

  • Talent Management – supports training of managers & employees, administration of the performance management program(s), identification of high potential employees, consultation on career plan development and development of succession plans for key positions.

 

  • Company Policies – In conjunction OMCA HR and subsidiary leadership, review, develop and communicate company policies that support the corporate culture and legal requirements.

 

  • Salary Administration – Coordination and administration of the respective base salary administration program(s), incentive plans, and participation in salary surveys and market pricing for subsidiary.

 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field. Masters Degree desirable but not required. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP desirable, but not required.

  • Experience in specialist and generalist Human Resources roles in a division or subsidiary of a major public or private industrial corporation with recognized excellence in human resources. Independent responsibility for program development and implementation. Experience with leadership development, performance management, employee relations, policy administration, base salary and incentive plan administration and regulatory compliance.

  • Eight to ten years of experience in Human Resources. At least 2 years in a lead role.

 

Abilities, Knowledge and Attributes:

 

  • Well rounded business background and acumen with the ability to be a strategic partner not just an implementer of programs.

  • Ability to work efficiently with standard business PC applications, including: Excel, Word, Power Point and Lotus Notes.

  • Ability to learn basic data lookup and report development in HRIS programs.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives for a timely and successful conclusion.

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions that are consistent with the culture and business strategies of the company.

  • Able to work in an open, business focused environment and communicate clearly and concisely.
